991 Turbo launch date

Hi, i have some news from my dealer this week and thought I would share with the rest of the members here and see if others have been getting similar/different info.

I have already placed a deposit and am expecting to receive my Turbo S from the first shipment (depending on how large that shipment is). My dealer has just informed me that they got official confirmation from porsche that the first shipment of Turbo S (as I mentioned earlier in the 991 forum, the Turbo S will arrive in the UAE before the Turbo, although they may be launched simultaneously) will be in October 2013. He also is expecting a press announcement about the car within a month, with the dealer configurator coming online 2-3 days after the announcement.

That all seems good news to an eager customer like me and I would love for it to hold true, but in the meantime we can only go by what we hear and speculate over the rest.

Have any other guys heard any recent news on the launch or expected delivery dates either from the dealers or someone credible in the porsche supply chain that they know?

From what I hear the 991tt will debut at the Frankfurt auto show in sept with a release early-mid next year. Usually the S model comes out a few years later but who knows if Porsche changes things up.

That is what I am also reading from online reports. I also note that on previous models TTS is usually launched after the turbo, but both UAE dealers have confirmed to their customers that the TTS will come first and are now asking customers who put deposits down on TT whether they would like to move it to the TTS in light of the change in marketing tactics. The latest info that I received this week was the confirmation about the delivery date. I specifically asked whether it will be launched then or delivered to customers then and he confirmed it to be the latter. He then told me that they are expecting a press announcement soon within a month.

Part of the reason I posted this here (other than to share what I have heard with the rest of the forum), is to open it up to others who may have supporting or contradictory statements from their credible contacts in light of this information being different to what we know/have been hearing to date from online and other journalistic sources.

Tts before tt was mentioned in the past so this seems to be confirming previous information.

Any reason you would want to purchase such an expensive car without driving it first? What's the rush? Its not going to be different driving wise compared to a 997.2 TT.
