Keyless entry- accidentally opening trunk

Quick observation. When I have my key in my pocket and am washing my car the hood pops open when I get next to it. This has happened on numerous occasions. I am not putting any pressure on the key to hit the trunk button. I have to remove the key from my pocket and put it away from the car. Any suggestions.

If you have keyless entry and touch the bonnet with the key on you it will open...equivalent of touching door handles to open doors.

My salesman told me to put my hand on the bonnet under the crest, and the trunk will pop open. I've had the same problem, and I just put the key somewhere other than my pocket while I wash.

It's really a nuisance and a huge design flaw.

I hand wash my cars all the time and never had this issue. But I do usually leave the key in the garage while I'm washing the car because I don't want it to accidentally get wet. BTW I do have a new turbo s with keyless entry & I have washed it already. No issues, wish I could be more help!

With entry and drive this will happen. You do not need to use the key to touch the car. Your hand is fine, as long as the key is on you.

Same with washing, if you have the key in your pocket and touch the area it will open.

Not sure about a design flaw, I think its funny. Just set the key aside when you wash or spray off the hood.

Yes, design flaw. Sometimes I am just spraying the car (not touching) and the bonnet will open. So does that mean if we exit the car we have to clear a certain zone around the front (5ft? 10ft?, etc). Even opening the door requires touching the handle, they do not unlock just by proximity.

Badknees is infamous around these parts
This was one of the concerns I had about it being at a car show - how can I be near the car and it stay locked?

or just don't have the key in your pocket.. This is sort of a version of that old myth where they guy pees on the 3rd high voltage rail of the subway track and gets electrocuted. Actually that was just a myth.. but this one is real..

Actually I thought it was because you were creating a capacitive connection from yourself to the hood..effectively touching it through the water stream.

It could be about force but I believe it is about touch.. (not sure but now I'm curious)..

It is sorta funny to watch someone spray water into their frunk when it pops.. and then flail in surprise.. I've watched my neighbor do this like a dozen times..

Does a CLEARBRA insulate the bonnet from opening? Keyless entry to frunk does not seem to work after the installation of the CLEARBRA
