991 TT turbo problem
Weird, I had a grinding noise yesterday in my TTS. It was at a low speed too, 20-25mph I was going down a local street when I heard a grinding like a can or marbles or something then it went away. It was 2-3 seconds.
Hasn't come back since, it felt like it was coming from the tranny but it could have been anything.
Anyone else experience this?

Here's a good one - the dealer called and stated that the intake hose is not salvageable because it was kinked during installation at the factory. And here's the best part - a new hose from the factory in Germany is required to fix the problem and it will take 5-7 days to arrive.
The major bummer here is that my Porsche and Lamborghini are down at the same time, both with similar correction time periods. My weekend is shot to hell because now I have to tackle the twisty's in my SUV!

From what I'm told, they put it back on took it on a test drive and it blew off again. Frankly I don't care if a one handed Martian cyclops put it on inside out, just fix the damn thing and give me the car back!
Dealer told me the part is expected on the 26th - this is painful! And to add insult to injury I'm still waiting on the Lambo. Another canyon carving weekend in the SUV. Fortunately the SUV is a Cayenne loaner from the dealer and I'm not responsible for tire wear. Makes it a little bit better.

I had the same sound this morning - had stopped at a light and was moving off very slowly and heard the grinding sound like a can with marbles. No boost pressure. It might be a pebble or stone between the dust shield and the ceramic rotor - I've had that before but more like an intermittent squeal. It was only about 2 seconds, so I had trouble classifying it except it was coming from the rear of the car.
I had the GIAC tune installed a couple of weeks ago and blew my intake hose a week later. I had it reconnected by the guys at TAG, who really know there ****, and it blew off again today on my way to Monterey. Now I'm totally confused on what to do next. I'm waiting for TAG to give me some guidance.
I'm afraid my dealer will blow me off now that the car is modified. I know I can put it back to stock, but something tells me they'll be able to decipher that the car was tuned and refuse to do the work under warranty.
Has anyone found a solution to this?

I had the issue w/ my throttle body boot blowing off resulting in no boost, twice on the track, and the last time on the street, it happened the first two times before the flash, so it's not related to that, but perhaps exacerbated by it. Finally ended up having my race shop, Rennology, order a new one and it's held for the past few weeks of spirited driving, including many full throttle applications and a couple of launch controls. Of course nothing tests it like the track, but the original boot was a bit misshapen and never held very snug, and the new one does, so not sure if it was defective or not. There is no TSB or updated part, though.
Btw, the first time it was fixed by the dealer, it took them a week and a half to figure out the problem, which is pathetic considering it's staring you right in the face when you take off the engine shroud/fans. I don't know if your dealer service is any better, but I'd see if TAG can order you a new boot.

Am I the only one that thinks this is an absurd problem to be recurring on $190k cars? A simple intake hose "popping off", sounds absurd and furthermore with no permanent fix for what seems like not that big of an issue. I mean come on.
Agreed. I'd like to see a TSB for this.
