Opinions on basic 991 Turbo
So I bought a 2012 991S new in Feb 2012 which I built. Love the car, everything about it. Always thought I would keep it for at least 5-7 years and just replace it with the new model 911, whatever they name it.
Went to the dealer yesterday to schedule service and they had a 991 Turbo (not Turbo S) which had msrp of $153k. Not highly optioned: (from my memory) PDK, PDLS, parking sensors and reverse camera, clear tail-lights. No sport chrono, no sunroof.
They are willing to sell for $143k (roughly 7% discount). They offered to buy my 991S for 80k (my msrp was roughly $120k).
I wouldn't buy this turbo, probably just lease it. It's funny but I always wanted a turbo but now that the Turbo S is around, it seems the regular Turbo has been watered down. I also think they will do a mid model refresh soon so leasing makes more sense. Any thoughts?

I have a new 991Turbo ( non S). Great car. you not not need many options and the extra hp of the S is not work the extra money. If you can get 7% of the MSRP it is a good deal. I paid sticker for my car. I would never purchase a new 991 Turbo without the sport chrono package because this feature give you the launch control. It will be hard to sell without this feature. However is you are going to lease the car resale value is not your concern.

The 991TT is plenty of car!
Having said that...if cost/availability etc is not an issue I would go with the S!
When I picked up my TT there was no S available in coupe, only cabs so I would of had to wait a few months. The available TT was heavily optioned and looked great so I pulled the trigger on a non S.
If you're like me and can't wait...go with the TT...it's only .2 seconds slower on the 0 to 60 and an overall amazing car...pretty damn close to the TTS IMO.

IMHO, if no Chrono - then no deal. Unless, they offer additional discounts. Then maybe, if you like, use the extra cash (savings) to purchase a flash tune. Not having the sports chrono still a sour spot in my book, but the tune will/can be the equalizer.
