991TTS vs Aventador
imho aventador have bad tires, it jumps instead of run. probably factory pirelli's.
Yea my turbo came with pzeros can't wait to wear them out and order myself some nice Michelin super sports. Replaced the pzeros with them on my 612 and never looked back.
I have them too but they aren't so bad. I got a 1.60 60ft time with them. I have Michelin PSS on my M5 and I think they are good but I can't compare the tires on the two cars because they are different cars and ride way differently.
Weigh any Aventador, with just a full tank and driver it is >>> 3800 lbs
Yeah but, even though the 991 jumped, given 600HP for the speciale, and the lighter weight, you'd expect it to easily catch up, specially from a roll where it -should- have a clear cut advantage, but it was still falling more and more behind. Even the normal italia is lighter than the 991, same horsepower yet still is slower. Not bashing Ferraris, but honestly credit is due here for Porsche, and you gotta hand it to them.
Interesting races. However, in the above video, the silver Turbo clearly jumped the red Speciale by quite a bit. Not saying the Turbo wouldn't still have won, though who knows, but the race certainly would have been closer. Though stated that the Turbo pulled the Speciale twice, it looks like the video featured one race shown from different camera shots.
Not trying to start an argument here about which is the quicker car, but win or loose, the races should be fair. Otherwise, the results are clouded. It could mean difference between one car being clearly quicker or slightly quicker than the other.

The way I see it, some may consider you an argument starter or "trouble maker" because you called out some of the results of the video(s). Remember though, you are in a Porsche forum section and some of the fan boys do not like it when someone challenges their beloved it brand.
Personally, I've seen stock and tuned 991TT & 991TTS get their butts handed by the likes of GTR's, modded C6Z06/ZR1's, Aventators and even by TT E63's (modded vs modded)...it is just the way it is

Yes, the 991 TT or the TTS is a very capable machine...one of the most flexible supercar in the planet if you ask me, but becareful when racing against the competition, they too are fast and becoming very flexible and affordable. The new Hurican is a dream - a much better everyday machine vs. the Gallardo and let's not forget the upcoming 2015 C7 Z06.

At the end of the day, I am a car guy first - NOT a brand loyalist and because of that, whenever I see favorable videos about a specific vehicle posted in a specific forum, I simply say to myself: Oh okay, another favorable video posted in the winning vehicle forum. No sweat though, they all do it - BMW, Mercs, Corvettes, Lambos and P-cars and so on
Thanks!
E-Gear, I do not disagree and being in a Porsche forum the enthusiasts here love their 991's like myself. I am not all that shocked at the 991 TTS being able to jump off the line like that with the launch control but keeping several car lengths on the Aventator and pulling from a roll on the 458 and GTR I was more surprised. I do believe these are favorable videos, but I did not post them just because of that. I did not see any other videos that were contrary to the results posted for stock cars. I am also excited to see the new competitors platforms such as the C7 Zo6, new R8, Hurican etc.
Modded cars are a different conversation and taking any of the above mentioned modded cars vs a stock competitor is not a fair argument. Whether it is a modded 991 TTS vs a stock GTR, C7, E63 or vice versa.

I love my P-cars...but then again, I love all cars.

We are currently living in great automotive times...everything is getting faster and more fuel effecient...it's hard to choose. Heck, a few of us car nuts took a trip down to Austin Texas last weekend to check out the AMLS/WEC races at COTA and I tell ya, that Hell-Cat Challenger on display is something else; I like it!

As you can see, I like imports and domestics.
Thanks,
E-gear
Without a video, its just not beliavable.
