I skipped the PDDC based on some of the comments in here, some guys loved some said it added no real benefit on the street. I not track my cars.
Its hard to judge that color combo without seeing it in person. There was a car in Maryland that had a Turbo in that exterior/interior color, still pictures may not do it justice. I have seen the GT Silver Metallic in person looks great, not sure why they did to charge $3k for it though.

Also is there a screen addition or something that will block some of the bugs/leaves/stones from hitting that front center radiator?

The arrival of the car should be sometime in mid March, perfect for New England, almost won't have to store it too long I hope.

Also I got the sport mirrors hoping it will cut down on some wind noise. I also like the solid color on the mirror as well.

Burmester, well I have had the Bose and the standard and both are not bad but Burmester takes it to a new level. Although the Bose sounds great in my wife's Cayenne.

 

Great build, you'll love the TT. I also traded in my '13 C2S for my '15 TT . . . it's quite an upgrade! Good luck with the wait, but at least you don't have to worry about storing it over the winter.

 

Yes, a very astute build! The 18 way seats, Burmester and Sport Chrono definitely add to the experience. The GT Silver is deeper and richer than the Rhodium, although I favored the later. After 5k miles since mid-July in my '15 TTS I have not had problems with bugs, leaves or stones in the radiator, although GT3-like screens might be a good idea. Full front Expel Ultimate has prevented paint damage from small stones and is a must have, IMO. With windows up the wind noise is minimal, although when down the buffeting is very annoying at higher speeds. The turbo thrust is instant and addictive.

 

If possible add the Smokers Package; dealer talk me into it and glad he did. It's free but makes the interior look cleaner by adding a cover on what would be an open space by the center console. I don't smoke, but it makes the interior look better. Great build, so far I am loving my TT

 

Thx yeah I did that, also did the sunroof delete. I agree much cleaner look.
The funny thing was that my salesman "advised" I buy the Porsche logo on the center cap for the wheels, it was a $165 dollar option, really?


I looked at my wifes 14 Cayenne and her car did have it. Didn't think that was a costwise option for me.

 

Agreed Expel is a definite add on. Unique Auto is in Stoneham Ma have already contacted Rick about price. Was looking at getting the windshield covered as well though looking at options on that.


So the buffeting is still present with the sport mirrors as well?

Even with the sport design mirrors there is still wind buffeting. I don't drive with the windows down that much but am considering the AWE solution.

 

Sounds like we need to coordinate a meet in the greater Boston area for the new Turbos in the spring!!

PDLS is a waste of money for a street car.

Make sure you do not get the brushed aluminum interior trim. Really reflects the sun and shows every fingerprint.

I would get carbon fiber interior trim with the money you save on the PDLS.

I'm jealous that you are going to Unique. I have been following their work for quite some time and actually considered having my car trucked from New Mexico to have Unique do a bulk film install. I found a guy in the Dallas area that has done some really incredible work as well. He uses the Suntek film and I'm interested in comparing it to the XPEL that was on my 981 BS. The installer says they are equally great films but the Suntek is a little easier for him to install cleanly. In his opinion, the XPEL is too sticky and makes it hard to avoid stretch lines but the protection and self healing properties are the same between both. We shall see...

If you are interested in the windshield film, the one I've seen most is the ClearPlex. If you look in the 991 DIY thread you can find links to the pre cut kits. They run about 300 bucks and look like something a hobbyist could do in their garage.

Having had two 991 TTs done by Rick at Unique along with a few other cars, I will tell you that there are few things to consider about an XPEL (or any other product) wrap. As many people have stated the skill and experience of the installer is certainly very important as well as their experience in doing this many times on the same vehicle body style. There is simply no better chance of getting a great custom (not pre-cut) XPEL installation outcome from someone who has done many of the same car as you are having done. Rick has done many 991s, in many forms (TTs, GT3s etc.). It also allows significantly more areas protected while minimizing the visibility of that protection. For example, I had a full fontal Xpel wrap, mirrors, (Not headlights) and along the rocker panel extending to replace the Porsche supplied protection on the rear in front and below the air intakes. The application of XPEL to replace the Porsche protection near the rear intakes is a huge difference in protection and looks much better. I also added a strip behind each rear wheel.


However I would say as equally important is the vehicle surface preparation prior to the install. Having a film installer install a wrap of any product over a car not well prepared seriously diminishes the quality of the outcome. As I posted previously, I would strongly suggest you not have the dealer do any vehicle cleaning for delivery as they inevitably inflict some surface scratches and swirl marks. Please note: despite having my car delivered with the shipping protection still on the car (see pictures below) and the dealer not even washing it, there were still some surface scratches that needed to be removed. Also, there is great value in a complete surface cleaning of the entire car by doing the following:


Wash exterior with a degreaser or other suitable product to strip any protection present.
Then claybar treatment to remove any surface contaminants.
Then a careful professional polishing to remove any swirl marks or other surface scratches present.


If this is expertly done to the entire car BEFORE the XPEL you will have a superior outcome that will make the XPEL almost unnoticeable and the added benefit with be that your car paint will really have a beautiful reflective finish and depth that will be seen by even the novice eye.


The final step is a complete paint surface protection over all surfaces (un-wrapped painted areas and XPEL wrapped areas) with a high quality and optically pure surface protectant, such as Opti-Coat. With Opti-Coat, the car will resist dirt and stay cleaner for a longer period of time due to it's hydrophobic characteristics. In addition, the application of Opti-Coat creates a protective barrier on top of the paint which is about 2 microns thick, so it will take the brunt of any damage that would have been done to the clear coat. This includes protection from bird droppings, tree sap etching, light scratches and swirl marks. The coated surface will still scratch, but will protect the factory paint underneath and provide protection from harsh chemicals, acid rain, etc


This is the value of having your new Porsche done by Rick and his team at Unique as they do it all to a superior level and have much experience in performing these complete services.

 

I can second MJM's comments and can't say enough good things about Rick and Unique Car Care. He's wrapped two cars for me (M3 and TT) and detailed several others. The finished product in every case was amazing.

Rick did exactly what MJM described with my TT. You have to look hard to see the X-pel (and know what you are looking for). If you are in NE, I would definitely recommend Rick. Beyond his work, he is a great guy who really loves cars. You get the sense that he is as excited to work on the car as you are to have it.

 

I have seen WCH's car in person and it looks sooo great, his car paint surface really "Pops"! I would say his car now shows all the beautiful highlights and varied color shading available in the Dark Blue Metallic color. It just looks OUTSTANDING!!
