Why no PSE option on TTs?

Sorry for the stupid question but why doesn't Porsche offer a Sport Exhaust option on the Turbo models like it does on the NA models? I see some turbo owners have installed non-OEM sport exhaust systems, and don't understand why option-crazy Porsche doesn't offer a PSE option.

Don't know the technical answer. I know the exhaust note on the TT changes when you hit the Sport or Sport Plus buttons. I don't know what in the system makes that happen. I have read (on these boards) that there is no valve in the TT system because of the additional heat generated from the turbos.

I changed my exhaust because I came out of a C2S with PSE and thought the stock TT exhaust was too quiet in comparison. But even if it sounded better, I think you would still find a number of TT and TTS owners going aftermarket for the reduction in back pressure and even meaner sound.

Yes for me going to an aftermarket exhaust is all about the freer flow that is required for the GIAC Stage 2 flash. The extra sound is just a bonus. I am sure that is true for many of us.

Agreed ... I have a GMG race exhaust in my garage waiting to be hooked up to my '15 TT.

Better flowing system and more aggressive sound is the reason.

The PSE in my '07 C4S was obnoxious. I rarely used it. Stuck a Cargraphic system on the '09 TT and it was great. Of course 'chipping' the beast was the cherry on top of the ice cream.

Agree with you Serge, really irritating - after six months of sewing-machine exhaust note (pushing the Sport buttons barely changes the exhaust note by the way) I finally decided to go with my guys at Sharkwerks. GREAT sound, online videos don't do it justice, and best of all it's changed my psychological attitude about the TTs, really fun starting the car and driving it. Plus, the cost of the upgrade is probably about the same as a PSE option :-))

Agree, stock TT/S needs more oomph in the exhaust sound dept....
I installed Sharkwerks as well... great guys with a well made product!
Videos never do justice to AM exhaust systems, I know!! The NVRANUF TT in SharWerks video is mine!

Is the Sharkwerks exhaust just a mid-pipe replacement? Or is it a system that replaces the cats and mufflers? Pretty big difference if you want something other than just a sound change. Also a big price difference between mid-pipes and full exhaust with cats and mufflers.

I feel the current exhaust is already pretty noisy..... the sound is not as good as the 997 with PSE.....
but I can't live with one louder than the stock.....

Sharkwerks replaces just the rear muffler, unlike your EP which replaced muffler and cats.

Cost delta between the EP you have and the Sharkwerks I ended up with was very significant as you know.... for just a fancy sound attenuator.

Bottom line, both make their owners happy!
