Due to the dollar's strengthening against the Euro, the price of the Europipe exhaust for US buyers has fallen $710 in the last few months, dropping from $4805 to $4095. Not cheap but definitely cheaper. And big time kudos to EP for passing on the savings to its buyers.

Well, the GMG exhaust is hooked up. I've driven the car about 80 miles with a mixture of Slab and back roads. Normal and Sport ....

There is certainly an increase in the SOTP power. The car definitely "feels" quicker in every response. Burbles and such in Sport are quite nice.

I'll give a more detailed report on how I interpret the addition of the GMG exhaust later.

There are some things I really like ... and, some things I'm not all that keen on.

I'm in the market for exhaust, and have it down to GMG or Europipe. What aren't you so keen about the GMG?

So, we hooked up the GMG full exhaust on my new car. Everyone at the dealership really liked how the car sounds.

I now have about 80 miles on the new exhaust .. all done yesterday afternoon. Snowing today, so car's in the garage.

I took the car on back roads, city streets and Slab to about 90 mph. There is no more drone in the cabin than exists with the oem exhaust. There is some turbo buzzing if you give it 1/2 go pedal from low speeds. ?

My previous exhaust was a Cargraphic Loud on my '09 TT cab. It was much louder (to me) in the cabin than the GMG. I also liked the turbo whooosh of the Cargraphic, too. This does not happen with the GMG. Could be the turbos have been reconfigured. ??

Start up with the GMG is much more mellow than the Cargraphic, too. As is normal driving around in non-sport position. My wife could hear me coming home 1/4 mile away in the '09 car .... no so much in the new.

There are burbles and such in sport position while shifting up and down. These are enjoyable sounds.

At this point, I prefer the sound of the Cargraphic. More brash, louder, whooooshy sounding.

This may be due to a couple things. My old car is a cab and there may be more sound coming from the rear due to the fabric top. ? The new coupe may inhibit some of the sound to the interior. ? The 2 units are different in design, too.

Or, it could be like my Harley Davidson with Rinehart exhasuts. Sounds pretty good to me, but much better to those riding behind. Maybe the GMG sounds better to those outside the car. ?

The new GMG exhaust does flow better yielding a car that seems quicker than stock. I do like that.

Exhaust sounds are such a personal thing. This is my 4th exhaust on 4 different cars. Each is different. I'll have to drive this around more and see what I think. Of the vid clips I've listened to here, the GMG was my favorite.

The turbos were definitely not reconfigured just from installing a exhaust. I agree with you that exhaust sounds is a personal preference. One piece of advice I would give you is drive the car for a few weeks before coming to any conclusions. When I first installed my Tubi street exhaust I thought it was possibly too loud. After a few weeks I absolutely loved it and wouldn't change it for anything! Hope you have a similar experience and enjoy your new exhaust!

I understand that adding an exhaust will not alter the turbos. I meant that perhaps the new car's turbos are some how "different" than the '09s from the factory.

And, I agree ... I'll have to "live" with the car a bit longer to see how I like the new exhaust.

BTW, I do not dislike the GMG exhaust, just comparing my personal preference to the sound of the Cargraphic in my old car. We will see how it shakes out.

Did you get headers also? What did your dealer charge for the install?

No, I did not get headers. I was more interested in improving the sound along with some additional ponies. I may chip the car with FVD tune in the spring.

Dealer charged me $700+ tax. Car was there from 9 to 2pm. I'm not sure how long it took them, but they typically start when they can. I'm happy with the cost. Same as it was at another shop 5 years ago.

Was there a Cargraphic option for the TTS, and if so, did you consider it? I have not heard of the Cargraphic brand myself.

Your install price is spot on what mine was for my GMG install down here in Atlanta. I like the GMG exhaust note because it sounds more muscular than the stock exhaust.

I may be wrong, but I get the idea that a lot of folks' goals (not referencing you, Bagger) with changing out exhausts is to try to make their Turbos sound like a Ferrari? Why bother, and who cares!

Yeah, that's not me.

Yes, Cargraphic has an exhaust for the Turbo cars. And, I did consider them. But, decided to try something else.

I've had a bunch of Porsches dating back to the 60s.

I don't much care for the sound of a Ferrari. Not my cup of joe.

Hi there.

I see precisely what you mean. It's the car. The 991TTS motor runs much quieter than the 997.1TT's. This brash, gargly sound you are referring to was simply the sound of a Mezger engine with a Cargraphic exhaust. A friend of mine alro ran this setup. Fantastic sound, which I also favour over the 991TTS'.

Even though the GMG is very free flowing, it is *relatively* quiet. For an X-pipe exhaust with race cats and only 2 mufflers, I was a bit disappointed myself when I heard it. You might have to shop around for something else. I'm thinking FVD (their loudest mufflered version, as this will alter the sound emitted by the car. If you go for the X-pipe, you might as well stay with the GMG). Going for an X-Pipe without mufflers at all would also be another option, but you might get that straight pipe lawnmower sound, which I'm sure isn't what you are looking for!

The start ups are quieter on all 991s, TTS or C4S etc. I miss the crackle of the cold start on the 997.1TT too. The Cargraphic made a beautiful sound, that crackling, hollow sounding gurgle with a slight whiz of the turbos! I know EXACTLY what you mean. The newer cars just have a different start-up sequence… A shame really.

Hope you get it figured out!

Y.

Here is a FVD sound exahust with high flow cats, IPD Plenum and FVD headers clip. I think the sound is perfect.
