2015 991 turbo s question?
In automatic you can still use the paddle shifter. You do not have to me in manual to use the paddles. You can be going 70 MPH in 5th in auto and shift up to 6 and 7 or downshift into 4th and 3rd.
It reverts back to automatic when you stop the paddle shifting.
I use the paddle shifts but keep the car in D or automatic.

I always go straight down to D and use the paddles. If you place in manual you can go up and down (+ and -) with the shifter or use the paddles but are in complete manual mode. My way utilizes the best of both worlds IMO.. I can downshift or upshift and if I forget it does it for me!
One thing I learned the hard way coming from 40+ years of manual shifting was when I pulled back on both paddles placing the car in neutral at a stop light.
Once the light changed I could not get this freaking thing into first?? I had to put the car into Park, restart it...horns beeping at me,, people passing me laughing...i was really PO'd.
Went directly to Dealer...DAH,,,HAVE to always push the brake pedal to get the car in gear from a stop. OMG,, it just was not intuitive to me. But I know now!
Agate Gray TTS! Great beautiful color. Lots of compliments on my car this past weekend. Lots of looks and stares. Seeing a new 991 in my city is very rare.
Good luck. This is a world class car that is addicting and causes insomnia. 100% better than my former newly bought 997 Turbo. Mid three digit driving is like going 60 mph in a run of the mill car. It was a lot of money but also a lot of torque. So glad I did not succumb to purchasing the GT3 my dealer had on the floor with 325 lb ft of torque. I would not have been happy.

To me it was a no brainer. I agree, not keeping my car rev'd to 8000 RPMs to maintain drivable power.
Bought my car off the lot so zero input in the options. $192K sticked car.
I would not have personally ordered the Burmester stereo since I am strictly an AM talk radio listener but it was there.
Good points

The proof is in the pudding. Try it. If moving of course no brake pedal is needed if by chance you pull back on both paddles to disengage gears but why would you do that when moving?
When stopped and you paddle back it is impossible to shift into gear without pushing the brake pedal on the Turbo S. check it out on your car and let me know.

Well, explain to me why on an automatic you would disengage gears when moving? I dont see the point of placing the car in neutral,,well maybe to coast and save gas? Lol
Seriously, I use it when stopped flat so I can take my foot off the break at a long light but other than that I see no reason to pull both paddles back and disengage. Am I missing something?
