10.65@135.42 at San Antonio Raceway last night Car #2

Best time yet and on the last run I won heads up against a CTS V that had a better ET and trap time because I had a better reaction time. Fun night, beat two Corvettes as well. I had three 135mph traps in a row before the car slowed down due to higher DA, it was getting more humid as the night wore on. Initial DA was 2700. I started out by adding 4 gallons of Sunoco 104 to 1/4 tank of gas.

I beat two Corvettes and ran a couple of other slow cars. I have attached the two Corvettes and the last run against the CTSV. This thing was supercharged and probably way over 700hp to get the 140mph trap speeds.

Obviously the tune doesn't wear off after time. I ran faster this week than last and my reaction times are better too. This is a good tune, don't care if it's a piggyback, this car is fast.......

The vanquished

The first one is the CTS V, everyone is up there gathered around it. He asked to race me, nice guy too. Everyone is pretty friendly out at the drag strip. That CTS V is the faster car, he wanted a rematch but I was ready to go, the car was slowing down. I said let's have a rematch when both cars are fresh so he was OK with that. If he gets a good reaction time he will win. The guy in the red vette was just hoping to run in the 12s so he was happy. The guy in the yellow one was worried about his clutch failing so not sure if he ran up to par or not.

I have the original PZeros on the car and when I got there they were at 45 hot and so I let air out to 41 when I ran. I think it was better than last week. My first 60ft was 1.66 and the others were all back to 1.7x so I think I could probably use some new tires. The trick is the reaction time. I floor the car and get it into launch control on the first amber and then on the change to third amber I let off the brake. That gets me the .33 type reaction times. I may try even less air if I go back tonight. The fronts are at 38.

Pirellis usually have a stiffer sidewall so you have to find the balance on letting out enough pressure without overdoing it. You should definitely be running under 40 psi. I'd try 32 and go up or down from there. 1.7 is Not a great 60' for that car. The only reason you cut the 1.6 first is because the tires had a bunch of heat in them from driving to the track.
Also, I always go around the water box, with TC off, and just floor it to do an awd burnout (not launch control just floor it). Then obviously back up and pull up to the staging lights. That will help too
Nice trap speeds though!

FYI,
I've just tracked at Laguna seca twice this last week. Ive got the stock P Zero's they had the best tracking around 36 psi hot. Which is probably around 28 cold. I start at 33 F/R cold which got them about 45hot them let them down to 38. Decent traction for them. I've got Trofeo R on order.

Thanks for the advice. I am going to have to practice the burnout trick though. Not sure how to do that. You talking putting it in sport and holding the brake down? I don't do the burnout normally. I will definitely let more air out next time. Definitely I know 1.7 isn't good but not sure what to do about it other than some of the stuff you are mentioning. I am thinking about getting a set of Michelin PSS soon. These are a year and a half old and while they only have 8400 miles on them, they are definitely wearing down.

Yeah, it does sound like you need new tires soon.
No, don't hold the brake down when doing the "burnout." It's something you can try in the street. Basically, just mash the gas from a complete stop with TC off in Sport Plus. Only use your right foot from brake to quickly mash throttle because you don't want to do actual LC. You should have some wheel spin. On the track this will not only clean the dirt and small pebbles off, but get a little heat in the tires right before your run.
Let me see if I have a video of me doing it before a run..

I think I have the idea, I will try it in the street first but I will have to remember to put TC back on before the run. It's tricky remembering all the stuff you need to get ready, not much of it but it's easy to be to focused. I forgot to roll up the right window after the staging guy talked to me on the first run last night. I get so focused on staging and paying attention to the lights, I forget the other stuff.

Once modded, traction control should be hurting your times at the track when using launch control. Try it completely off on your first run and see where you are at.
If your tires are that bad, the TC may actually be saving your *** from running 1.9-2.1 60's. I'm curious to see how you make out. Hopefully you get a decent amount of runs in and can try adjusting tire pressures, TC on/off, etc. I bet there is a 10.2-10.3 @136 with all the stars aligned and variables in play.

Last night they were open until midnight and I got 5 runs in by 9pm starting with the first one at 7:19. The car slows down later in the evening unless you let it cool down and last night I think it was a humidity increase issue. Yeah I should try it without TC and just do a straight take off. My M5 just spun and took a very deft touch without being in MDM. Not sure the 991tts will be that bad since it's AWD. I definitely think I can break 10.5 with new tires.

Good luck bro. I'm very certain by looking at your slips that you have 10.2-10.3 with a good launch/60'. Mph will be 136 give or take 1 mph. May take better tires to get there though depending on how tire pressure and TC work out for you.
Another trick is to bring a couple bags of ice and in between runs you put them on your airbox and y pipe before the throttle body . Leave the frunk open so the heat can escape

WRS, How's the control module treating you? I loved what it gave, stock boost and very notice-able power increase in 98 octane, car felt nice and easy aswell. I haven't tried it in race fuel. However like they say the more you get the more you want so I switched it as I wrote in another thread.

For a costume tune powerbox from a very close guy to me, upped the boost a bit and raced another FVD module car, gave him about 3 cars, 70kmh to 240kmh, both of us running 98 octane. I'm still interested in seeing what GIAC can do but I don't know of any 991 turbo in UAE with GIAC tune, I'd be interested to see how the stage 2 performs.

Have you tried her with 98 octane? See what you trap in that configuration? Using a Vbox I measured 214.1kph in a 1/4mile run on the street with the FVD box(20~C degrees outside). but there was alot of wheelspin in 1st gear so I think that number is inaccurate. I have yet to try again with the new setup.

I E-mailed FVD asking about a higher level tune but they said they don't have anything at the moment and they're working on the DME directly. Not sure how long before they get through to that.

I think it's a pretty good tune. Not overly aggressive but definitely makes a big difference with the right fuel. I run 93 octane and then when I add the 104 I get an average of about 100 which is what the FVD is set to handle. When they come out with something new I will give it a try. So far so good.

Hello Hamad,
For your information. ARM in Dubai are dealing directly with FVD. That is where I got my tune for my 997.1 The owner is called Alex. He will charge you top dollar but he is a professional. You will be impressed. Deals mainly with Porsche. You can even get a full warranty from him for your car. Having the car not stock is not a problem in his book. Have a visit, you won't be disappointed. All the best.
