IPD Y Pipe and Carbon Install
#31
Couldn't hook. My buddy who was watching the race commented that I had wheel spin at all 4 tires and the car was wiggly on launch.
Surprisingly traps were the same before and after @ 100 mph as I picked up in the 330'.

Yes it's a great product line and they have great customer and vendor support to back it. The plenums and Y-Pipes have been making over 30 wheel under the curve as well as over-all flow improvement and even faster boost response. Nice work Mike and Greg!

Had a chance to hit the 1/8 mile track tonight to test the new addition of the IPD Y pipe. Fact is the IPD Y Pipe uncorked big power throughout the range.
The prior week I consistently launched smoothly and consistently without wheel spin at the same track. The only change being the addition of the Y pipe.
Increased power was real and evident from launch. I could not get the car to hook at all. Massive wheel spin while utilizing LC all the way through the 60' and throughout the 330'.
Tried to launch on foot brake on the fully prepped track with the same result.
Guess I'm now in the market for some real tires instead of my stock tires .....

sure, wheel spin will slow down your ET, but not trap speed.
stickier tires will lower your ET, but not increase your trap speed.
if the trap speed was the same, it didn't really give you anything.
also, I ran a 6.89 1/8 mi with 103 trap on stock P-Zeros with no wheel spin.
so the tires can do that. I get the feeling your wheelspin issue was the track not a sudden increase in power.

Stickier tires can help in the pursuit of doing both, lower ET and a few more MPHs while crossing the stripe.
Think about this .... Wheelspin at launch, couldn't hook well, realized spin throughout the run yet still posted the same MPH.
IMO from having gone to the track, along with the experience in knowing my car and making the runs I picked up HP.
From the vantage point of your computer the track wasn't fully prepared and my tires were adequate notwithstanding the fact that I used a shorter distance to make the same trap speed as before the improvement.
I can't argue that...

Trust me I feel your pain! However to have Sam consult, look over your combination and make recommendations so that you can breakout from the pack does offset that cost in wasted time and effort. Ask me how I know! Good stuff PMN!
