Best Way to Mount Go Pros for Drag or Roll Racing
Best Way to Mount Go Pros for Drag or Roll Racing
Everyone seems to want good Go Pro videos of the Atco track day. I have two Go Pros suction cup mounts but am pretty clueless as to the best locations and angles to mount the camera to record the races.
Some of your have recorded some great videos of your races with your Go Pros so your tips would be appreciated.

did you mount one on the inside of your side windows with tint or inside your front windshield with an extra tint on the inside? Did it Peel off the tint when you try to remove it
I was using my iPhone with a mount and harry's iPhone app and the suction of the cup pulled the tint off the rear window with the suction force. This was the rear window, aftermarket tint, so the app recorded the view over my shoulder..
The angles I like to use when I mount mine is to show a wide view of the opponent car, plus the side of your car. And if I'm mounting 2 I mount one on the front bumper, and one just below the rear wing. Here's an example:

I use Superview 720p and sometimes if I feel like it Superview 1080 but I think it's unneccessary, unless you're trying to make a professional film.
I think the lower the camera is the better the video turns out. But obviously not too low other wise it'd look stupid.
And if I had a choice I'd mount them next to the driver's side to be able to reach the camera with bluetooth.
Also this might seem obvious but don't forget to get a wet tissue and wipe on the mounting spot and under the suction cup otherwise it can easily fall from the bumps and speed.

We raced before my low fuel light was on and I beat him as well as another Cobb stage 2 991 Turbo. But most people only put up videos of their wins. I put up wins and losses.
I just put up all my videos that I took that day but I only took videos after lunch (won every race after lunch except one of four races to her recon and one of 45 races to a full both on GTR). The three Cobb runs were in the morning. The pictured one was right before lunch and I had been running for almost three hours without a break or cool down period.
I'll have my cameras up at the Atco event from the first race. Figured out the best way to mount them.

Next time at Atco I'm bringing more race fuel. It's weird because the car was still registering 3/8 of a tank when the light came on but because of my high rate of consumption from the racing the car estimated the range at under 50 miles which triggered the low fuel warning state.
At lunch I if the event for about 20 minutes and filled up to full and switched to pump gas. Didn't want that fuel problem again.

I used a sticky mount on the the inside front window and on the outside rear window. Both of those are ideal. The stuff I got from my phone I did a bad job mounting the suction cup and picked it up in my front view which I just wasn't paying attention to and let it end up that way the whole time. The biggest problem I had was keeping my goPro's on during the runs, they kept shutting off automatically. I don't understand why that is but I have to figure that out too.
Here is a video that we made, you can see where we put the GoPros and how we used them to make the video. Multiple angles is ideal to make good videos. Videos shot from the same angle are really boring. We always try to use the GoPro sticky mounts, the suction cups are easy to use but they sometimes vibrate. The sticky mounts are low profile and very secure.
