Gasoline in Oil Tank!

Long story short, I lend my daughter the car for a cruise and she wanted to thank me with a full tank!

Anyway she thought the gasoline goes in the rear of the car. So she popped the back open and proceeded to pump gas in the oil tank

Fortunately she told me she only dumped about 20 cents worth because as she was trying to pump gasoline everything started fizzling out. That's when she knew something was wrong.

So now Im obviously concerned. You guys know if porsche has implemented a safety mechanism that doesn't allow gasoline to go in there? Maybe that would explain the gasoline being rejected. Any reason I should be concerned? Or did I dodge a bullet.

I drove the car and it feels perfectly fine. But now it's in the back of my head.

some unburnt gas always ends up in the oil tank anyway.

if she had pumped more, you would want to get an oil change.

it's still not a bad idea since you really don't know exactly what happened.

Get an oil change immediately before driving anymore. Any amount more than a whiff of gas in your oil is going to effectively dissolve the oil and drastically reduce it's lubricity. Don't even drive it to the dealer. Don't even start it. Flat bed it to the nearest service center, tell the service manager what happened and get the oil flushed out.

I installed a blower in my Z06, did heads, cams, pistons etc...long story short, built her to 1280 ponies. My catch cans show gas in the oil all the time...ring problem. LOL But ya, change the oil. This oil won't kill you, but oil doesn't need help breaking down...it does a good job of that over time on its own!

Excuse me, you let your daughter drive your car? My oldest hot rodded both my M5 and the RR Sport SC when given the opportunity to drive them. I was in the M5 and she ran it up to 85 on Spring Creek Parkway in Plano but she used the RR Sport two weeks ago to take me to pick up the Porsche and she reports to me that she got the RR up to 90 on 360 coming back to the house. Ain't no way either of my driving daughters is driving mine. I let my youngest son drive it two miles to his apartment from my house never going over 30. My wife doesn't drive it either. Too much car for the average driver.

$.20 in fuel... Probably fine.

However, I would get the oil changed. That little bit should not cause the oil to thin too much. But the investment is worth it. No sleepless nights wondering.

You'd boil it out pretty easily, but with about 10oz in there, you may just want to change the oil. Not as big a deal as some make it out to be.
