I have two cars a 15' 991 TTS and a 16' M4. I might be down sizing to just the TTS and let it be my DD. Right now it has 10K miles and is 3 years old...

I know it will take a bigger hit if it has more miles on it when I go to sell it. But right now I have two cars depreciating and obviously I can only drive one at a time...

Just curious what others are using their Turbos for...

So do you use your TT / S has a DD? And how many miles do you put on it a year?

I am thinking the same - I should drive it more and drive my SUV less. My 14 tts has 9,300 miles.

BTW, I am wondering whether I should keep it after the warranty runs out in July. Porsche dealer is asking $6,500 to extend the warranty until 2022. Ouch.

 

My 15 TTS is my daily driver. In 10 months I've put on 8,500 miles. I bought it for me, not the next owner. I may take a hit for high mileage, that is if I ever sell it, but it's worth the enjoyment I get every single time I get behind the wheel.

 

That sounds like a pretty cheap insurance policy if you ask me. One failed system in these cars can easily pay for that. Probably won't need it right away but in my experience things start going haywire around the 7 year mark.

 

I am driving my car as a DD. Why wouldn't I?

 

Some of you guys really need to drive your 991 more.

Porsches are one of the few cars that get even better with mileage. If it is safe for me to DD, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Good advice. I will probably get this mechanical breakdown insurance and live with it until 2022 and swap it for a one or two-year-old 992.1 or 992.2 tts.

My decision has already been made to make the TTS a DD as the bimmer is for sale...

The 911 Turbo does do a lot of things well and it may be one of the best sports cars to fill the DD duties and still offer a day at the track if so inclined...

Any one else wants to chime in on this topic... It would be great to hear about how you use your TT... Garage Queen, Track rat or your main squeeze to get you to work and run your errands.

 

Are they going to CPO the car for you? Only Porsche can offer and extended Warranty. My dealer was offering a safe guard porsche branded contract but was pretty expensive.

I only have one car, but I don't need to drive daily. I commute to work by train (NYC). I have the mileage thought in the back of my mind, but it won't stop me from using it. I bought it for me to enjoy. I never thought I would say this, but I love the PDK. It probably has something to do with living in an urban area, but I am a believer now after fighting it for about 10 years.

 

Thanks guys for the heads up on extended warranties. My warranty will be up in November. I will have to put some thought on whether to buy one or not.

On the topic of PDK I still prefer a manual but I dislike PDK less now that I have had three years to get over it... Sometimes it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks...

If you are looking for extended warranty, Tommyboy214 gave me an agent name for Fidelity Platinum and he offered some great rates for forum members. It is such a good deal that I will go for the max - 10 years, 100,000 miles and $100 deductible. But get it before you reach 10,001 miles. The next tier is 20,001 miles and the premium will go up accordingly.
