My new Turbo S, rock chip fiasco and warning to get PPF before you wind up in my mess

I would never consider factory ppf as each new car I have had ppf applied to has needed some paint correction prior to installation. The last 2 cars I have taken delivery at the dealership had the protection covering removed, no dealer detailing, and were brought directly to the ppf installer 20 miles away on flatbed. Then ceramic coated.
The paint, especially the clear coat, is definitely not perfect right out of the factory.

Be prepared to wait quite a while. This car is awesome. The color gets tremendous attention.

Now they are repainting the entire bumper and hood of my car and blending into the fenders - only way to go what a shame on a car with only 8,000 miles
PPF is a 100% must on these cars

I can tell you after all of this I have been through with this fiasco there is no way I will be even driving this car one foot until the paint is dried, cured and PPF is installed
My new pet peeve is rock chips on 911's - It seems that Porsche is like a giant magnet for rock chips

What an ordeal it has been over some rock chips - two months and counting - in the future I would never consider to purchase any Porsche car with stone chips - I would only buy a car which had the original owner had installed PPF from day one - my 997 Turbo is 12 years old and it is in mint condition because it had PPF from day one (it did have to be changed out at the 10 year mark) but still better than repainting - the only saving grace in all of this is that I found a really great body facility that does world class work - here is a little video I shot at the auto body shop

All cars really. I have and have had cars with a few thousand miles and the winscreen/bumper/hood/mirrors/headlights/rockers are destroyed from road debris attacking the paint. Anything airborne coming in contact with surfaces at speed is a weapon. At least the DeLorean has a plastic bumper and grille that takes beating like a champ.

Finally picked up my 991 Turbo and it is simply unfair the advantage the PDK transmission gives you over the 6 speed
I am making nearly 200 more WHP on my stage 4 997 Turbo and in most situations the stock 991 Turbo would be faster or just as fast as you don't have to worry about shifting or any turbo lag between shifts - have they taken all the fun out of the driving experience with the PDK and all the electronic controls ? All I can say is I am really happy that I have room to keep both as they are both totally different cars and appeal to different urges
Here is a little video of my pick up of the car and my first blasts to 100 - it is crazy how fast it shifts - I am sure that it would be just as fast in the 1/4 mile as my 997 with 750 crank hp

I have seen in the past a temporary paint protection film that you can use a roller to put on over the car temporarily mainly for track days, but I assume would also be good for picking up your car and bringing it to a shop for PPF.
