We have been busy developing our new 991 Turbo GT2RS style valved X-Pipe the last few weeks. The OEM 991.2 GT2RS has a button on the center console to open a valved straight pipe that comes right off the cat and directly out the corresponding tip, sharing that tip with the muffled system. It adds a very sporty race car like sound at the touch of a button. We thought it would be a great option for Turbo owners, too, so we decided to move forward and design it using our own 991.2 TTS for development. Our lead welder modified a set of OEM tips and used the outside outlet for the dump pipe and the inside outlet for the X-Pipe. However, to make it a turnkey product, we developed a set of 3.5" dual round tips which are a week or two from completion. I will update the thread with pictures once they are completed. Then we will video the system with the valves open and closed for all to hear. The system has been jigged and test fitted to the car and it's spot on. This system can be configured with a full 2.5 or full 3.0 center X-pipe section.

There is no 991.2 Turbo factory option for a sound valved exhaust, such as was provided on the 991.2 GT2 RS (valved cat dump pipe). Now 991 turbo owners can share in the valved GT2 fun. It is available with any of our SpeedTech 2.5 or 3.0 core sound levels (quiet, moderate & loud) as the default system, then with a push of a button the system is transformed to that of a GT2 cat dump pipe on steroids. Due to our less restrictive SpeedTech/HJS high flow cats, more sound than the GT2 is produced, as well as dramatically improved flow for maximum performance & sound. I will share a few pictures from this week when we test fit the 2.5 and 3.0 prototype versions of our new GT2 RS style dual tips, along with the valved cats and 2.5/3.0 X-Pipes. The dual tip design uses the outside tip as a floating skin, exactly like the 991 turbo OEM tips, except that in this case it houses the valved dump pipe, instead of the small secondary pipe found on the OEM turbo exhaust. The final production versions of the tip will be fabricated over the next two weeks, ceramic coated a semi-gloss black finish and then the entire system will be installed on our 991.2TT S test car for photo, audio and video documentation of the open and closed valves in combination with our high flow HJS cats and center X-Pipes. Update: The final version of out GT2 RS Style Exhaust for the 991 Turbo is complete and we will be installing it next week for sound clips. We will offer two styles of tips, a 3.5" rolled edge dual tip with an angled slant cut to match the bumper profile and a 3.5" dual tip set with a straight slash cut, both versions featuring jet black ceramic coating as the standard finish.
Here is a short video compiled today to demonstrate the sound characteristics of our 2.5 GT2 RS style valved 991 turbo exhaust. There is quite a difference in sound and character with the valves open/closed, it is best to use headphones or speakers to truly hear the difference, as it is quite dramatic. Both modes sound fantastic and with the valves open it sounds great, as the x-pipe acts as a huge balance chamber and that really enhances the sound characteristics in loud mode vs. simple straight pipes (non balanced). This sounds great! I assume this is with a set of cats on it? I wonder how much it would change the sound catless?
Catless is always a good deal louder than catted. A 2.5 X-Pipe in quiet mode (valves closed) would still be fairly aggressive. With the valves opened in loud mode, I think it would extremely aggressive. Ask Adam B., he can tell you about catless/valves opened.
