Official 2012 Porsche 991 911. Spy Shots, Renderings, Details, etc.
That would be pretty tragic if they make all the effort to reduce the weight of the chassis only to gain it back and then some. That being said, that interior definitely looks hefty, so you guys might be right.
Another two important factors that took the numbleness away when compare Caymans S and the Turbo are mid-engine layout vs. rear-engine and 2 wheels drive vs. 4 wheels drive.

You know, I was thinking that too but then I re-read the article. I believe it actually states that they figured out how to lose 99 pounds from the bare chassis, but that the actual curb weight was TBD. The way they worded it had me concerned that they managed to lose the weight in one place but added some of it back in other places. Thus, the ultimate curb weight wasn't released yet and it's still a bit mysterious. I obviously hope that they really did manage to lose 99 pounds from the entire curb weight of the car, but doubt we're that fortunate.
on page 61. The 991 are really 45 kg (99 lbs) lighter than the 997

Interesting article. Thanks.
But one thing is a little puzzling. The article says that the c2s has 400hp, but the catalogue says 400ps. Is this just a case of bad reporting or does it really have 400hp?
Oh, and does this mean that the launch color will be blue? Are those a picture of the launch car?
And I am really glad that people are all wondering if the 991 is a 911. Johnson will be delighted to hear about this.

Has anyone noticed in one of the promo videos they clearly showed paddle shifters... however on official photos they are still using smaller buttons on the steering wheels for PDK.
The buttons are still the standard issue for PDK cars, paddles being optional.
So paddles were optional? I have never seen 911 with paddle shifters.
Those stupid buttons INFURIATE me. I would think that the majority of people would order it with the paddle shifters, and IMHO, it is just another way for porsche to nickle and dime us for things that the rest of the world gets standard in a semi-auto sports car.
