Official 2012 Porsche 991 911. Spy Shots, Renderings, Details, etc.
Autobild is reporting that the engines will be 3.4L and 3.8L in the S, with only 345bhp and 395bhp. i'm pretty disappointed -- was really hoping for more juice. Otherwise all the sites seem to confirm that it will be a bit longer in length, bit shorter in height, panamera-like interior, 7 speed manual, 20" rims on the S, etc. This link below has some better gossip -- that Porsche will eventually use turbos on the entire 911 lineup, etc.

Just a 10hp bump for the 991-S? Disappointed.

im sure i will like the car, but that being said I LOVE my 997.2. With those HP & Trq numbers the new car should not be any faster than the 997.2. It will be more nimble I believe for guys that track there car. And seeing shots of the interior it might be too much of a change. But to me the 997.2 is the Ultimate for me looks and performance

but 130 lbs. lighter do mean a lot to performance in both straight and curve. Not to mention 4 inches longer wheelbase will allow them to put the enginge in a better position (forward) for better balance. The 991's may look similar to 997 but they would be a much better car
Fully understand that you love your car

Yes, I'm confident that I will like this 991. I think the changes, which may be minor to people who don't follow Porsche, will be a significant step forward to the evolution of the 911 all around.
It's not all about horsepower.
If rumors for a much lighter car, which I don't see a reason for not happening after seeing what they did with the cayenne, then performance wise we are going to see a faster, more agile and even more efficient car from Porsche...
I curious to see the new pricing in the US.

Figure this one out. 911 Black Edition the first 2012 Porsche? The US Porsche Press release states its a 2012! http://press.porsche.com/news/release.php?id=622
I would hope the new 991 beats the GTS on order HP wise (at least the S version) Do not care about resale, it would just be nice to see very good numbers that make people go hmmmm. =)
This is stated to be Spring 2011 avaliability and is just a confirmation that the new 991 is coming next year as Porsche always come up with special editions which are value-oriented before a major change.
