Choices Choices....

Hi All,

Nearly pulled the trigger today on a new order but we could not (yet) agree on pricing. Also wanted to take a little bit longer on the config. I need your help:

Assumptions:
- Lease
- 991 S
- 20'

Choice 1: Convertible or Coupe
I have always had convertibles (not porsche) and my last two 997's were Coupes - I typically do not like the 911 Cab due to the hump in the back What would you chooise?

Choice 2: GT Silver, Basalt Black or Dark Blue
GT Silver is clearly considerable more expensive; I currently have a midnight blue which i like however i want to have the espresso interior. The GT and Espresso is the coolest; but the Blue (or Black) on Black would look nice too and is timeless

Choice 3: PDDC
Is it worth it? I do not drive track - i would have PASM

I appreciate your help - btw - what deals are you guys getting off MSRP or over invoice?

I got 3% off sticker.

You've never seen a GT Silver and Espresso 991 in your web photo searches - they were all Platinum Silver - Just so you are aware - see the Platinum Silver threads in the 991 area. As far as color choice - pick your interior and then match your exterior - then try it the other way around - I don't like gray interiors so that nixed Dark Blue - (and I really wanted Espresso).

None of us have driven the PDCC so it's hard to say - I ordered it because it's great technology - and has safety benefits as the video below demonstrates.

Good luck.

If I get a 991 it will not have PDCC but that is due to my opinion on its relative value, ability to modify, and future reliability of the car.

My recommendation: go for platinum silver and espresso interior and PDCC. The subtle beige tone is a great match for the espresso. IMO it is so worth it to go for natural leather choices especially if you plan to keep your cars for over 5 based on how well it ages but some may disagree as even the other leather choices are of high quality. If you like black interior then go with GT silver. I find it hard to pay premium price for GT silver when there is platinum silver available. Can't wait to check out Eric's 991.

First of all congrats to you!

Secondly......the color choices you gave us are very conservative....but if you're determined to stick with them then I'd go Blue. I had a silver car with a Lipstick red interior and it was beautiful but I got very tired of the silver but to each his own!

I believe leasing is the only way to go with these cars ( I know you didn't ask this)...get em...enjoy em and get another new one!

Good Luck.

Did you consider PTS? So many great colors from the past to make your Porsche unique for just 2K more than the regular special metallics.

I'd never order another car without going PTS!

Well, I changed my order (again) and went for GT Silver over Black Full Leather - my dealer has one in their show room and GT looks awesome on the 991

I would go with the non-metallic black which I believe is the Basalt Black. With a nice wash & clean, it will look so glossy and amazing. Yes, it gets dirty fast and lots of upkeep, but I think it looks hot. You can basically get any interior color with the black as it will match. But Espresso would be hot.

As far as PDCC, I would say go with it if you can afford it. As mentioned in other threads, you don't want to be kicking yourself later for not getting it. Even if you don't track it, you may just enjoy it by some spirited driving.

I just trades in a silver 997 cab for a platinum silver 991 coupe. I love rag tops, but the line of the coupe is just too good. I love the cab with the top down, but even with the better profile of the 991 cab, I still don't love it with the top up. Going coupe seemed right to me. But then, I have a second cab - a Mustang.

The 997 was a purer silver than the 991. I know others who have had the GT silver and it is beautiful - but almost impossible to match if there is a problem later.

I drove PDCC on the test drive and a car without it. I loved it.

Hope this helps.

Cab or coupe-I went with 991 s convertible all the reviews mention how closely the cab looks to the coupe in profile. Like color it is a personal choice. That being said it also sounds like this particular 911 cab is very similar in performance to the coupe.

Color-Just have a search on EricP posts. The platinum with expresso interior is beautiful. The problem with GT silver is that it either looks amazing (direct sunlight or dull in most other conditions.) I find the platinum looks consistently better in most lighting conditions. I have owned GT silver on my last 997 and ordered platinum with zero reservation regardless of the cost of GT silver.

PDCC-Many reviews have suggested that this option might numb the feedback of the new 911. I did not order it and certainly not getting this option. Sure it would be great if every sec counted (like at a track) but for day to day driving I don't think its needed.

Good luck-you can't go wrong with any choice you make with this car!

IMO, go for the cab if you're not doing serious tracking. Looks great, performance is reportedly very close to the coupe, and the top-down experience is awesome.

On PDCC, there's some debate about how it affects the subjective feel of the car, and how much it improves objective performance. Need to resolve those questions before deciding.

I saw a GT silver and Platinum silver side by side in good sunlight. To my eye they are 99% the same. Very difficult to tell the difference even side by side. There is no reason I could discern to pay the extra for GT silver. GT silver might have a bit more grey in it and platinum might have a bit of tan in it but like I said it's only a 1% difference even in good light.

As far a PDCC, my car has it and so far I love it. Car if very comfortable cruising when the PDCC decouples the roll bars and on track the car handles amazingly flat with the added benefit of decreased tire wear as you are not rolling the tires in high speed turns. If I didn't track the car then PDCC becomes much less needed.

If you do platinum silver over GT silver you just paid for your PDCC.

Just to provide a countering opinion on the silvers. I'd stick with your original GT silver idea. The Champagne tone in the Platinum is not desirable, is my view. I considered getting Platinum until I saw one in person. Highly subjective, of course.
