991 or GT2

I currently own a 05 C2S which I have had from new. I think a really nice 997 GT2 can be had for the same or a little less than a loaded up new 991S. Incidentally, mine when new stickered nicely optioned for about 86K I think. Which would you buy and why?

Good point Buckwheat. I did order/buy mine sight unseen and never having driven one at the launch of the 997 based on great automotive journal reviews.

I think your question is valid....what porsche makes the most sense at a given price point. But people should drive them to first decide.

For 991 money I think I would go for a GT3 first. But I know how a GT3 drives and havent had the pleasure of driving a 991. I defer to then to decide.

And I also need to drive my 997 into the ground first....to hone my skills to get the most out of either.

It depends on your needs. Personally im not attracted to 991's interior, neither interested in lots of complicated electronics. I always go for performance and sound...That's why if i replace my 9964s will be for a 996 Turbo not for a 997(unless i find a real bargain)

For me I just sold my 997.2 GT3 to get a new 991 . Resons need rear seat for the kids , car too low , very stiff for daily use ( had the carbon bucket seats , need a better sound system and nav system GT3 had a very bad sound system and no NAV , Gas tank was too small . Basically need a comfortable car I can go to work with . But must say the GT3 is the best true sports car I owned . If non of this matters go with the GT2 .

The 991 is a luxury sports car suitable for daily use, while the GT2 is a hardcore sports car better for track use than daily driving. What's your preference?

First tell us what other cars you have in your garage.

DD= 991
fun drives/track = GT2

Since none of us have driven a 991, I assume that it handles much better than the 997 and is more luxurious. But the GTR handles real well but feels very disconnected and not fun to drive at all IMO.
In my experience, any great car that is used as a DD will lose its value to you.

Daily driver is an old Lexus GS400. I don't drive far to work and have park shoe horned in a crowded lot. Porsche is the fun wknd car when I can get to drive........that's why I'm thinking GT2!
