Lack of steering feel is mainly at low speeds, at speed the steering is actually quite good with the M3.

Call me a creature of comfort but there are times when I want to get to my destination without steering vibration and rear end squall off the line, or feeling the bumpy texture of a manhole cover.
And then there are times when I want to press it hard - and the ratio of these times is 80/20.
Yes it will, if only I had the money!

it's fast though. all things considered, and the exhaust note is stellar! this one had the sport chrono and "sport mode" is pretty sporty. the 20's look to big to me also and the front end is short! compared to my 996t. maybe it's just "new" looking, and will take some geting used to. i didnt get to throw it around corners, and only hit the freeway for a few miles, but it's very stable and refined and no road noise was discernable, and it was very...
unlike a 911.
agreed. they are really working the "sports" out of the car, is my first impression. i just drove the 991s and although there were lots of creature comforts, it's not as fast as my tt. everything else though is probably better if not simply "newer". except the center console is a bit too "panamericana" for my taste. the sales rep hastened to remind me it was lifted from the carerra gt. sure. ok, right.

I mentioned to my salesperson that the car looked and felt bigger. I said it probable starts to feel smaller over time. He surprised me by saying that over time he felt it was even bigger.
Its neat however to see the suspension elements thru the wheels.
Good write-up...thanks

which is exactly where the engine lid is on my 96t. they reversed the position of them, i was tugging on the spoiler
and once open, there's no visible engine at all! just the coolant and oil fills and two fans on top. that should raise labour charges a bit

thanks. i agree, it definitely feels bigger, and the sheer size of the wheels will throw anyone used to lowered 911's. the takeaway for me, is that they really have diminished the visceral feel of the 911's we've all come to know. it was a bit too "plush". also, in a funny moment, i hit the engine lid switch and promptly reached to "open" the newly placed spoiler

Your not alone...I did the same thing. Felt like an idiot and was happy I didn't damage the spoiler
This isn't the General Lee where you can change the spark plugs with a hammer.
Here is the 2011 911 Sport Classic deck lid open. What are you seeing here that you are missing in the 991? If you want to complain about lack of engine visibility you're gonna have to go back a few years.

not so the 991. open the lid, consider your options ( oil or coolant topoff ).. and marvel at the cleanliness of design
it looks great. as do the 997t vtg deck lids.

if you want 911 engine ****, you have to go with a Singer Porsche for example (993 engine):
