991 design influenced by Cayman? Thoughts...
Is it just me or does the the new 991 seem to have some cayman influence? Specifically the front fenders, front lights, and the curve of the rear quarter panel.
Don't get me wrong. I think it is a nice looking car, but when I look at it against a 997, it looks to me like a cheaper design. While it is sleeker than a 997, to me, the 997 has the look of a more expensive porsche while the 991 is caymanish...
This is coming from a non biased car guy who appreciates multiple brands, including porsche. I do not own a porsche yet but when I do, it will definetly be a 997 (hopefully a gt3)
Curious as to what others might think...

I definitely see a strong Cayman influence. Aside from appearance, the handling is more like a Cayman, in terms of being more neutral and easy to drive fast. But IMO the 997 and Cayman R are both more fun to drive than the 991S.
don`t think so, the next Cayman is around the corner and it surely will look like the new Boxster with a roof on, which looks a bit like a Mini Carrera GT. the rear reminds me a bit of aston martin:

the headlights remind a bit of those 70s vintage racers:
