Does everyone have this thing on and is it truly necessary?

I'm ordering a 991 in Carrera White and I've seem them yellow on 997's and personally think it's ugly but I've been told by my salesman that I can't order my car without it but he can have it removed when it arrives.

What are everyone's thoughts on this thing?

 

Leave it on until it turns yellow and then remove. No point removing it first and getting a rock chip.

 

I was told by my sales guy that it comes factory installed because how the body juts out in the rear wheels. It's more prone to rock chips so Porsche decided to put them on. They yellow if you don't take care of it and put sealant and stuff on it.

 

The ones on both my 997.1 and 997.2 didn't yellow but they did seem to dull. A bit of polish and they went back to perfectly clear.

Leave them on or you will get stone chips and a lot of wear on the body panels.

 

i take it off right away, looks like crap...

 

Paint chips look worse.

 

Seen a guy who had a Carrara white GTS who had replaced the side 'clear' bra with a black one. Interesting option. I may photoshop it on my 991 to see what it looks like...
