David Bowie there expressed EXACTLY my sentiments. After getting a second test drive where I pushed the car upwards of 100mph on some night highway on/off ramps I really must say this car is ferocious. The designers of the 991 did everything very purposefully and with specific intent. The car is extremely scary fast and deadly serious. Love it.

As for the Corvette. They need to start from scratch and build a supercar for America. I'd be the first person to applaud GM if they came out with a true competitor, but they keep trying to polish the turd by adding horsepower. It still has the interior of an Enterprise-rent-a-car.

GM: The US gov't just threw billions your way in the form of a bailout. How about spending $250k on hiring away a decent interior designer from BMW/Audi/Porsche? I'm a huge fan of leather, metal and glass from the 60's era vette's. I'd love to see a return to the glory days.

A good designed and luxurious interior like the one in Porsches and Ferraris can easily add 30k+ to basic price and GM probably wouldnt want that

And it will still have the fundamental flaw that you can't hold the rear end on the ground. I think they will have to manage their torque a little better.

Well some people claim that both Vette and Viper can handle as a 997 GT2 or a Lambo or a 458 if they driven properly...

lol! We can link you guys to the specific thread being referenced...

Eric- GM already volunteered that the next model's interior is receiving a lot of attention, in response to owners and critics alike.

How were these vehicles compared? Are people cross shopping a $50k 'Vette to a $140k (well optioned) C2S?

*edit: I will admit, I enjoy Corvette and Porsche reviews, because I've learned a lot about ownership vs purchase recently. And I have a Porsche dealer 2 miles from my house, while the R8, Ferrari, and Lambo are quite a distance away - and the Z06/ZR-1 can supposedly be fixed by anybody who turns a wrench on a Cobalt.

this comparison says nothing at all

1. They are comparing a $100k+C2S to a $50k LS3 powered corvette
2. They are comparing the newest generation porsche 991 to a 9 year old corvette powerplant and platform.

When the C7 is introduced, that should level the playing feild. I prefer porsche but what are they saying here....that a brand new 991 porsche is better than a last generation LS3?

The reviewer spoke to that fact. You can only compare what exists to what exists. He said that they will revisit this review upon the release of the C7. I hope it's a peach.

And Mikegr, I don't think any of the issues he took up with the C6 would be rectified or helped the review in favor of the Corvette if it had been a Z06. He said it's brute force and had very little finesse. Poor seats, and damn scary to drive. The Z06 doesn't fix any of the aforementioned qualities of the Corvette.
