$135K to spend, but on what?

Long time away....

But I'm excited to be back on the boards!

Drove the 991S - pure magic! Compared very well to my Supercharged 997S (which i still miss) Given the used market I wanted to ask the gang what else would you consider.

Here is a list of cars I was thinking of: (no particular order)

1. 991S
2. 991 Cabro
3. F430
4. 2004 challenge Stradale
5. Older 2004 Murci Lamborghini
6. GT2 / GT3RS
7. Dare I say the Gran Turismo?

Look forward to some thoughts-- I'm itching..Hope to some of you soon. Tks! Pink

$135k? h00kers and gambling?
Just kidding. Are you looking for a potential daily driver or a week end car? The answer to this question should already make your choice a lot easier

If your purchase is a long time away, then a 991 turbo would be in your price range when someone turns it in 1.5 years after purchase.

I own a 991S and have owned an F430 and a Challenge Stradale. For everyday use, the 991S would be the car to have.

For fun only, I would rank the Challenge Stradale as number one, the 991S as number two, and the F430 as number three.

All are fun to drive, but the Challenge Stradale makes coming home the painful part. You always wish the trip was just a little longer so you can enjoy it more. I think it's all about the weight (and, of course, the sound). But it can definitely bite you if you don't look out—the response is immediate.

I was holding out for the new SL550 but my wife suggested that everyone she sees in an SL is 60+ and retired. But the NEW sl is sharp -- my dealer just got one. But by this time I had a chance to drive the 991 and OMG it's ferocious - and luxurious which sealed the deal. Just wish I had gotten Burmester sound.

So I have a $130k 991 on order which will be here next week - there is no other $130k car I would want - that was my car budget as well.

1. 991S (egglayingwoolmilkpig = does everything so well)
2. GT2 / GT3RS (cause more radical)
3. 2004 challenge Stradale (cause epic epic sound!)

in that order

What's weekend car?

For me, I need to take my family (of 3) to places in a comfort, so weekend car has to be an SUV...

But to have a 911 or SL as weekend car, where are you guys going with it without your family?

And how can S be a daily driver and 911 weekend car if you have both?

f430 will serve well as a weekend car, where practicality is not important and you drive for pleasure instead or errands or commutes

otherwise, a 991S is a great option.

forget about the older choices like CS and Murci. they aren't old enough to be charmful but have little to offer in terms of modern features and performance.

Soon you will have the choice to dial in any sound you like . Apple will have " an app for that" as Porsche and BMW are already "piping" sound into the interior. So if you are after sound... just get a Fiat 500 Abarth and an Ipad2

I read that you already have an S550 which is your primary DD. IMHO the 05-06 F430 is a no-brainer and until you at least try the F car you will always wonder whether you are missing out. I think an 07-08 Gallardo would be my 2nd choice (over an 04 Egear Murcie). If you wanted a true 100% DD, then the 997TTS would grab 1st place, but I have come to realize that as much as I love my TT it will simply never sound or feel exotic like a modern F car. More to the point is that when you hear the screaming engine of these Italian exotics it sends shivers down your spine. Your heart races and you feel like an F1 driver. I have never felt that way about my TT's, either past or present. Yes the TTS may be one of the best performance cars on the planet (for the bucks), but do you really care whether you can do 0-60 in 2.6 seconds vs. 4 seconds ? Does it matter whether the 1/4 mile time is 10.8 vs. 11.9 seconds ? If your the guy that must have THE fastest car that can do it all, then opt for the 997TTS. The 997TTS really is the pinnacle of Porsche engineering and for a $135K there is no better car in the world. If you can live with the 4 second 0-60 and 11.9 in the 1/4, then do the F430. After alot of soul searching I just did what I'm telling you (albeit with a newer model) and I can't tell you how excited I am to finally, after having had TT's for many years, to be getting my first true exotic car. I may keep my 07 TT or not (as a 2nd DD with the 458). Anyway, drive the F430 and see how it makes you feel. I think that you might even be able to get a certified F430 with an F car warranty for maybe $15K more than you want to spend. Good luck with your decision.
