I have this option on my cab. I probably wouldn't order it but I bought my car used and there it was. I can't say anything negative about it though. Steering seems nicely weighted to me at any speed. I guess I wouldn't count it as a negative but certainly nothing essential.

+1. Mine came with it as well. Wouldn't have ordered it, but that is what was available. I don't think it is a negative and definitely doesn't adversely affect car. I just wouldn't have ordered it.

I have it, too - don't really notice it. I am curious how the steering would feel without it. Anyone try the fuse trick yet?

I would think that pulling the fuse would cause the entire power steering system (there is some assist already without the option) to stop working and result in excessive strength needed to turn the wheel if in fact you could turn it all.

Had mine programmed so that the car doesn't think it has PSP. Steering feels great....like other 991's I have driven without PSP. I understand it is subjective and I'm not trying to offend those who like the option, just want to answer the initial premise as to whether it can be turned off.

That's awesome! One of the reasons I wasn't thrilled with the 991. And it's so hard to find one without that option but I will be sure to have this done when I eventually take the plunge into one.
