991 base Vs S

I did not go for the PSE because i would hardly use it and IMO not worth the additional 3k for me.
The specs I chose are essential for me in terms of enjoyment everyday.
Question is, should I fork up the extra 15k for the S or not! Its as it is getting pricey on the base. Badge envy? Red callipers? twin pipes? PASM?
I read the review by EVO today and they mentioned that the 3.4 is and excellent choice.
Would love comments and advice.
Thanks a lot

I agree with you that PSE is not worth the money. Does nothing for performance and the stock cars sound great already.
My .02 cents. If you're going with PDK, then by all means get the Sports Chrono. SC also gives you Sport and Sport Plus modes - don't buy a 911 w/o it.
I don't know what the configuration is for a sport steering wheel with paddles for the 991, but my 997 has PDK w/paddles, and I can't imagine driving a car without them.
You don't mention Nav. Practical, and good for resale.
Sirus/XM radio keeps you off terrestrial trash radio..
Ka-ching!!..

good choice. I not only is the base car $15k cheaper but according to EVO as well as a couple of reviews I have seen it is also a more satisfying drive and is the car they would choose for themselves.. It is interesting to note the base (manual tranny) weighs only 3042 lbs which is the lightest 991 in the line up. I also checked off the 20' rim box on my build but I am second guessing that now. They do look nicer but as one poster correctly pointed out they are indeed heavier and I have to wonder how that will affect the drive if at all.

I believe both the base and S come with nav as standard
Thanks. I am much clearer now. Base comes standard with nav pcm etc. there is also sport button standard. Sc gives sport +. Probably never use it but i guess i have always considered the clock in the middle very 911. Oh well. Would love to do 19s which technically should be better for ride comfort , but 20s also ride well then i guess it should look a little more sportier.
Thanks for the evo write up. It helps. The car they tested had 19s. And they looked nice enough if not better?

Thank you everyone. The build i have is this
991 base, metallic black, standard black interior, premium pkg 14 way adj seats, BOSE, seat vent, sunroof, 20 S wheels, PDK, park assist front and rear and sport chrono (on the fence about SC and NOT going for PSE) 115k approx.
Thinking of pressing the button. Any ideas on the SChrono? Worth it? good for resale? I don't think i would use launch control although having the centre clock is very 911.

Sometimes the toughest part is the decision on which version to get.
Re SC vs. PSE... if you can stretch it get both.
Some are die-hards for the SC... personally don't feel that strongly about it, however... since you're getting the PDK I would really recommend getting it!
It does alot more than give you a clock/stopwatch on the dash... for one the sport+ button opens up a whole new range of fun (throttle mapping, shifts, rev range etc.).
There is a much bigger difference between "sport" and "sport+" than between "normal" and "sport".
Also you get the dynamic engine mounts and sportier suspension feel and of course the Launch control!
Not to mention that you can't retro fit a SC at a later point whereas you can always install an aftermarket sports exhaust or do a Fister D/Gundo hack.
Hope that helps.
Good luck!
That timer has often been referred to as a wart by porsche users that no one wanted, but thankfully in the 991 it also serves as a clock. If you are not interested in sport +, it kind of lessens the need for a 911.
final build.
metallic black, standard black interior, CS 20 wheels, PDK, premium 14 way seats, ventilated front seats, SC, sunroof, BOSE surround system, park assist front and rear, power steering plus.
About to finalise , and now came across another dilemma: PASM makes the car look lower and better. I am not too concerned about the PASM functionality, but without it do the wheel arches look too high? noticeable?
Need advice!
Thanks

+1! I suspect you won't be sorry you went for more power or that you paid the incremental $! Plus when you move on there are always more buyers looking for a S...

It's all incremental...
