About to finalise , and now came across another dilemma: PASM makes the car look lower and better. I am not too concerned about the PASM functionality, but without it do the wheel arches look too high? noticeable?

Need advice!
Thanks
On a base, I would definitely get PASM and even consider SPASM.

Without it, you would be 20mm higher than a SPASM car. I think with the 20 inch wheels, it would look better with a little lower look.

One question: Why do you want PS Plus? I drove a normal 991 the other day and think the steering is fine. Definitely do not think it needs to be lighter under 31mph.

I think a normal 991 PDK is about the same acceleration to 60 as my 997.2S PDK; probably fast enough for the highways. And I've driven the 991 and it feels about the same as my S in acceleration. It seems to me it boils down to whether you want those other great performance options (like PDCC, PASM, etc.), and if you do (and you can afford it) I'd take the S, if not I think you will enjoy the normal.

When you look at the stuff that is standard on the S that is optional on the Base, the difference is not that big. But then you have to add the PDCC (4K?). The engine is almost a bonus. But it is a big nut. My 991 S is about 126k. That is a lot of money to me - but the car is extraordinary.

These are good problems to have!
Wowsa! 126K is pre-owned 997 TT territory.

hashrogers is infamous around these parts
I know its getting very pricey with all the options. I really don't need sport plus at all. Its just that when you are building its so easy to add in options thinking you will regret later on. The PASM idea only came about when feared that car may look too high with the 20 inch wheels and too much gap between the wing and the tire. Look is very important to me.

This is the first time i am buying a 911. Very used to comfort for everyday driving. Thats the reason went for the PS plus option. Want this to be my everyday car.

Sometimes i wonder, I am going for such an expensive car, just add another 15% and go for the S. Very confused. Any idea how the base looks without PASM on 20 inch wheels?

Can anyone please explain to me in easy language what PASM does. For everyday city driving is it more comfortable with it or without?

Just to clarify, the 20" wheels have a lower/smaller side wall on the tires than the 19" wheels, the circumference is the same for both because all the calibrations (computers, hardware) have been set up for this measurement.
This means the that the wheel-well gap is the same on both.

That said, the higher sidewall of the 19's will make the ride more comfortable for every day driving.
But if you get the PASM it's really hard to tell the difference between 20"s or 19"s (that's why I'd go with 20"s just to get that awesome look).
The PASM will not just give you a MUCH more compliant ride but you can also just push the sport mode button (or suspension button) and get a little stiffer setting if you so desire.

PASM will also lower the base car by 10mm (which is visually noticeable), so again you get the best of both worlds.

Hope that helped.

Cheers!

After all the this research and going back and forth, and after adding all the options the price difference is narrowing and so thinking of just going for the S. Buying a $100k car, the last thing i want is to feel "what if". That would be awful!

Thanks everyone. Appreciate all the feedback!

Good call.
Two options for me, Stripped Base or loaded S.
Even though I chose the S, now I am feeling "what if" for a manual stripped base.

Your analysis is correct, however, what you didn't consider is that the larger tire of the 20's allows them to run with a lower psi as opposed to the 19s which may negate the effect of a higher sidewall with higher psi. This was the thinking of the Porsche engineers when considering 20' wheels.

@galion i would have thought more like loaded base or stripped S. But Good call on the loaded S. Even if you feel what if, it cannot be better than what you are getting

Thanks Tromero

According to Porsche's instructions the psi of the 20'' is supposed to be higher than that of the 19'' wheels.
