Insurance and loans

Two related questions. I use USAA for car insurance and they have been pretty good. They offered me a $50K loan at 1.79% for 36 months. I have not decided to take it, I may sell a kidney and pay the whole thing, but my wife just informed me that we decided to redo the kitchen. Hey, she gave me the Porsche, or more correctly, let me go out and buy it, as 25 th wedding anniversary present so how can I refuse? That is a better rate then I am seeing for home improvement rates so I just may keep the 50 cash for the kitchen - maybe she will learn to cook!

Also, USAA does not write full replacement cast policies and the annual for this car alone will be ~$1,700 based on 4k miles /year (I have a short commute). Is full replacement cost coverage out there and is to worth it?

Thanks everyone in advance!

I know on a lease they include gap insurance to cover the difference.
also ask them about diminished value insurance. In case someone hits your car like a door. Now your resale value has dropped by 10k+ this will give you the money to cover
the lost value.

Thanks for reminding me - USAA does not offer that either. Do you know someone who does? As for Gap insurance, I don't think that is available for this type of deal. You need a different policy - one that gives full replacement. I know they are out there. I don't know where to look.
Thanks again.

I would look at pentagon federal credit union. They have a program to join for $25 that is tax deductible. Their rates always beat USAA.

That insurance rate seems pretty high. Living in MA (land of massive car insurance fraud) I pay about $1100 per year for my 997.2 and I average about 16K miles a year. And that is with a $300 deductable.

NJ has highest rates in the country, that is 500/1,000K policy. But I am looking into others, especially if I can find a full value replacement policy.

My suggestion is to re visit your coverage. If you have an umbrella policy, you might be over insuring. Most have $500K single limit. Some umbrella policies allow you to drop it to $300K single limit.

Thanks, that is a good idea, I already link them. If you drive a Porsche, you are a deep pocket to the plaintiff's bar! But I will call about dropping the level of the primary coverage.

Yeah, that seems really high. I have State Farm. I pay 4400/year for my wife's MB R350, my 2012 Cayenne Turbo and my 2012 Ferrari. $1500 deductible.

I like both your rate and your garage! Do you have full replacement coverage - that is what I am really looking for.

Ya, the insurance seems high. After adding my 2012 CTT to my other 2 cars, my Geico policy went up only $86 and that's including the $10/month mechanical breakdown warranty that lasts 7yrs 70k miles. I'm sure I'm getting discounts on the $76 insurance part due to multiple cars, but it still seems you're paying too much. I also have it set to 15k miles/year.

Thanks - I will give them a call - I just don't think I like the idea of buying insurance from a lizard. I am really looking for a replacement cost policy and most of the big companies don't write that. Oh well.

Chubb, chartis, ace, firemans fund all have agreement amount valuation. You can set the value and will get check for that amount in the event of total loss.

Thanks. I have been meaning to call Chubb anyway. Called NJ Farmers & Mfg's and they don't have it. Asked them to give me a quote and they were about the same as USAA, but did not offer to bundle it with an Umbrella policy.

I will call some on your list and again, thanks.
