1st interior rattle post?

Hi I just got my beautiful 991S to replace my beloved Cayman S 987.2 my 2011.

I noticed that my car has rattled noise coming from the rear passenger panel. I went back to the dealer on the next day and they disassembed the rear seat belt cover, pretty easy to remove with few clips. I installed the felts and it is better. However, when I drove the car back I still hear the rattles and I asked my wife to sit on the back and when she pressed the rear quarter left window (lower-middle part of rear quarter window), it is moving and ratting like crazy (seem like loosen screw or bad design).

The right rear quarter window also have some movement when I press it but it is not as bad as left side as I can hear rattles even on smooth concrete road. I temporary fixed it by inserting the felt in between and the noise was gone, I could still hear it on the very rough pavements. Now I want to remove the interior panels to see the problem and try to fix it.

I used to have the same rattle problem from rear quarter window on my cayman and I fixed it by removing the whole interior panels on the back , I am quite good at it after did it so several times. I put rubber washer between screws and car booy then the problem is solved.

However, my mechanic/dealer said he do not yet know how to remove the rear wondows on 991, is it the same as 997? I just wonder if the rear quarter window is held by 3 screws as same as in Cayman? And you can adjust in-out the one on the B pillar?

Could you please let me know where I can find info/picture on how to remove/replace the rear quarter windows on 997/991? I live in Thailand and the car still very new to Thai mechanic, I do not like my mechanic to use my car as experiment project. She is just 1 week old.

Thank you

I have a rattle and from the drivers seat it appears to be from the area you describe. I haven't had the opportunity to get someone to sit back there and check for me. Please keep us posted with any solution you discover.

Take back to dealer and let them deal with it. That is what I would do.

When I had a problem with a new Harley ($20,000) the dealer came and got it with a trailer and brought it back on a trailer. With a $100,000+ car maybe the dealer should do the same, or bring a loaner for your use and drive rhe car to the dealer and back. It appears that this may be a common rattle.
