considering having a 9500ci installed - here are the points they are suggesting to have the display / controls. Anyone have a 9500ci installed with a smart cord?

[edit: finished install w/smartcord live buttons etc pics]

wow that is a great install. I like having the controls in the ashtray. I can easily hit the mute button.

Not sure the smart cord works with the 9500ic Seems like it would be a nice feature but not sure how it would work with the 9500ic being hardwired in. If you find out different, please let us know.

It's on Escort's website, they have had the smart cord out for the 9500ci for a little while now. My install shop has done a few already - I haven't done anything personally yet with my 991, just wondering if anyone else out there who has had the work done likes the smart cord integration with their 9500. It's about a 300 dollar price difference installed - if that thing actually works, I'd be very temped

I stand corrected. Sorry. When I bought my 9500ic it was not available. Here is a bluetooth question. Can your iPhone be connected to PCM and the smart cord at the same time?

If you are on the speaker phone using bluetooth, are you able to receive alerts?

They do great work. I haven't done the install yet, these are the proposal shots sent that showcase what they did for someone else (my car has more mileage and a 7mt). It would cost roughly double the 9500ci unit cost alone to have everything installed like this with the escort live cord stuff.

I'm just considering things and wondered if anyone else has used the 9500ci with the escort live direct wire cord yet. If we go ahead, I'll post pics of the install on my car.

Very nice

Any under dash or shots of how the wire was run?

Also wouldn't it make more sense for them to be swapped? Your hand would cover the display when you pushed the button necessitating moving your hand every time to access the result of the button push?

Just installed a 9500 escort and blinder 905 Jammers on my 997 turbo. No false alarms anymore and no more problems from the fuzz.

Having a 9500ci installed tomorrow, $1990 by a local high end shop. Head unit will go in ashtray, display will go in pocket in center console.

Search 9500ci install on this site and you will find videos of people installing detectors on 997's. It would be very similar.

Suggestion....make sure you are comfortable with the display being outside of your field of view!! Mine is hanging from the rear view mirror and I sort of wish we had opted for more centralize location.

Why is hanging from the rear view mirror a bad location and where would a more centralized location be?
