What a car!!!

I test drove the Camero, the Corvette Z06, and the Nissan GT-R. After driving the 991, I HAD to have it. Picked it up Wednesday. I can't believe how comfortable the car is for daily driving. It is so good over everything but the worst roads. How they do that with 20inch wheels is a mystery to me. The active suspension keeps the car level regardless of the cornering forces, making the firmer suspension setting something I will never use except at the track. The louder exhaust setting is great when you want to hear the engine. The PDK is lightening fast and smooth. The GT-R may be faster at the track, but the 991 is better in every other way. So glad I bought mine!

Great purchase! You'll love it and they drive like a race car. BTW, when you do your first oil change, ask or "get" some Mobil 5W-50. They'll try to put 0-40 in it, which is not bad, but definitely not the best. Also, does your kid ski for Summit Ski team? My boys do and your last name sounds like a teammate of theirs. Have fun! Yes, it's Rick. My boys Nick and Daniel are on the Summit Team. I was feeling really guilty about spending this much money on a toy, but the incredible driving experience is melting that guilt away....

HA! Don't feel guilty UNLESS you rack up the speeding tickets. I've been lucky coming down Parley's canyon daily. I've got my 100+ spots by Mtn Dell golf course and I watch it pretty closely otherwise.

I've got the Butler boys. You'll have to drive with our crew. Michael Gladson also has a 911...and a couple other friends of mine. Mine is older (2001), but has LOTS of upgrades and mods and is quite fast and handles like it's on rails (PSS9 suspension and lowered).

I hope you drive it to the Team part this weekend and you'll have to take me for a spin. The road up to UOP is one of my favorite summer rally roads at dusk / no one on it and some good 2nd gear turns to wear out your tires. :-)

Again, welcome to the club. You made a good choice over the other cars you looked at. Almost nothing will beat a Porsche on the curves and twistys and Utah has many of them close by with not much traffic! Chris

Thanks guys!
The paint is Platinum Silver Metallic, and it is gorgeous!!
Black interior.
I bought the car off the lot, and the only thing I didn't like at first was the Sport Exhaust System for $2950. Now, I LOVE it!! Turn it off around home when I don't want to be loud. Turn it ON when I'm driving aggressively and want really cool sounding downshifts!!

The other MUST-HAVE is the Dynamic Chssis Control. No body roll makes every turn seem effortless. Would never buy a Porsche without it now, or the PDK of course.

It has rained since I got it, and it is dirty now. I'm trying to put miles on it so I can start stomping on it even more. I will take more pics in a couple days after I wash it. Even on wet roads, I was pulling 0.7Gs on the meter easily. Today I had a dry ramp and pulled 0.89Gs. The salesman on Wednesday pulled 1.09Gs. I didn't want to push it too much harder on the second day for fear of crashing it....

Hey Chris, I tried sending you a P.M., but I don't have enough posts yet....
When you go on drives with your crew, where do you guys go?
I signed up for Wide Open Wednesday at the Miller track for May 9th, including Autocross. As long as call responsibilities at the hospital don't screw me over, I plan on making that date. I am considering Lapping Days on May 21st as well, but missing Mondays are really bad for me, and Memorial day already takes away the following Monday. Do you ever go to Miller?

Yes, do be careful. The limits of these cars are high, but they can still be crashed. I should know, I crashed two cars when I was young.

Thanks for the advice! When I was in College in the late 80s, I had a Starion Turbo. I got pretty good at doing power slides around turns when I was by myself. One day I had 4 or 5 people in the car, and wanted to show off. The extra weight in the back seat got me and I spun out. Luckly, I didn't hit anything, but I learned an important lesson!
