The 2012 cabs were released in the middle of April and now I'm getting word that the 2013 model year cars will be released around July further depreciating the 2012's.

I'm pretty peeved about this and do I have the right to be? I completely understand I am spending a lot of money and I can wait but with that said I think it's ridiculous the 2013's are being released so early and for those who ordered a cab expecting it for the summer, this puts those buyers in a tough spot.

Any words of advice? I already have 3% off negotiated but I feel like that wouldn't even cover the depreciation between the two model years.
I have been on both sides of this coin .

1) The 2013 car will have one less model year of depreciation and its not uncommon to see some very minor revisions . Thus I ordered a 2013 car .

2) I did also custom order a 2011 BMW M3 and was the last slot for the 2011 model year . I don't worry about depreciatioon as much with BMW M3 cars though and that model is near the end of its cycle (12 is the last M3) wheras the 991 is newly released and bound to have a a few quirks at the launch .

the cayenne turbo came out in february 2010 as well but was always a 2011.....

the 991 should have been a 2013 from the get go.

Agree .

To the OP .. take a look at 2010 Gt3RS cars Vs 2011 with similar miles and there is a slight price gap on basically the same used car . Of course high miles will take the price down on either .

Thanks Rossii, I would appreciate your posting the PDF.

If anyone knows of more changes in the 2013, including price changes and changes in options and standard equipment, this would also be appreciated. My interest is in the 2013 non-S coupe.

I ordered a 2013 991S three weeks ago. There were no changes in price or standard equipment.

Thanks for the information tmg57. I plan to start my search for a 2013 this week, including in Florida or whereever I can get the best price. I live in Texas.

Not sure if you can do anything about it, but I would have waited for the 2013. Not that it will be a better car, but a 2013 will be worth more than a 2012 on resale.

+1. The biggest 2013 change, at least for me, was the avaiablilty of the sunroof in glass. Other 2013 options include additional interior trim items in, say, carbon fiber, and the aero and sport design packages.

As for 2013 color changes, the configurator shows that Mahogany Metallic has replaced Ruby Red and, of course, Carrara White is now White. I have heard (not confirmed) that there will be a red and a green, both metallics, that will be available starting with September production along with Umber Special Leather, also in September. I assume that the September introductions coincide with the factory start up after vacation shut down.

Changes for 2013

Ok here are the changes. Its just summary of the PDF.
911 Carrera model improvements for MY 2013 begin with the start of production during the week of May 29th. (Keep in mind that these could change till you actually place an order)

3. Summary of MY2013 changes for the 911 Carrera models
Category Improvements in MY 2013

Chassis
• New warning threshold for TPMS
The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) for the 911 Carrera models has been given an
additional warning threshold. If the pressure in the tires drops by more than 4.4 PSI at track
speeds of over 168 mph, the TFT screen in the instrument cluster advises the driver to
reduce speed.

Electronics
• Cabin temperature sensor moved
• Additional MONO lettering on AUTO button
In order to describe functionality of the climate control system in the 911 Carrera models
more clearly, the word MONO has been added to the AUTO button. Holding the switch down
activates MONO mode. This balances the temperatures for the driver and passenger sides.
The TEMP button can then be used to set the temperature for both from the driver's side.

Exterior
• New exterior colors White and Mahogany metallic
• Eventual exterior colors of Amarenth Red metallic
and Emerald Green metallic (Dates for these colors have yet to be determined)
• Deletion of exterior color Carrara White

Interior
• Enhancement to 6 o’clock spoke for Sport and Multi-function steering wheels
The standard Sport steering wheel and the optional multifunction steering wheel will be
enhanced for the model year change. A recess on the 6 o’clock spoke will make it look even
lighter and sportier.

Individual Options
New
• Sunroof in Glass
Like the already available steel sunroof, the glass sunroof opens outwards. It maintains a
fully electrical tilt and slide function that can open and close with the push of a button. The
large transparent glass surface creates a bright, light filled ambience in the passenger
compartment. Included is an electric sunscreen which extends forward from the rear,
providing protection against direct sunlight. The edging around the exterior of the glass
sunroof is black. The aluminum panels in front of and behind the glass sunroof module will be
painted in high-gloss solid black. The previously named “Electric tilt / slide sunroof” will be
renamed “sunroof” going forward.

Discontinued
• Painted PORSCHE logo and model designation
From model year 2013 on, painting of the Porsche logo or model designation on the rear of
the vehicle in Black or the exterior color will no longer be offered as an option. The logo and
model designation will only be available in chrome look.
