Home link

Hey,

May be a bit of a dumb question here...looking for some ideas. Just picked up my 991S Cab --- btw, awesome! (pix to come) ---- and am trying to figure out how to program the garage door opener without the handheld remote control. Sometime in the last ten years that remote just disappeared, and every time I change out cars I go through a drawn-out process determining how to program the homelink function without it. Figured I'd try to skip a hundred steps here and see if any of you know how to get it done. This is an opener with rolling codes, so the final step is to sync with the opener directly from the drive unit. It's the steps that precede this that are ******* me!

Any help is greatly appreciated....

For my garage door opener, you have to push a leard button by the light bulbs. The. You can program up to "x" amount of remotes. Mine is a chamberlan ( I think).

If you can see the brand and model number, you might be able to google it.

Good luck. Entrant forget to post pics..

put garage motor into learning mode by pressing a red button on the motor unit. it's usually inside a light cover on the back of the motor

press your homelink on the car. wait for the motor light to flash (takes a second)

dont program with your remote.

Don't forget to take the factory installed codes out using the instructions in the owner's manual.

I recently had to set home link for my car and as the OP points out, there is a two step process. The first step requires the use of the handheld remote which he no longer has. My suggestion would be to buy a new remote from the manufacturer and use it to program the home link now and in the future.

Buy new remote for your brand and type of opener. Hit learn button, followed by pushing button on remote a couple of times. Then hold remote next to Homelink. Press and hold Homelink button while holding remote button. Homelink will blink rapidly after several seconds of this. Then go back to opener and press learn button. Push Homelink button a couple of times until garage opens/closes.
