19 hole,

Did you buy the coverage from third party, or negotiate and buy directly from your dealer?

At $7000 for a set of 4 wheels and tires, I thought it was a reasonable value also. I don't ever seem to get a nail in the middle of these wide tires and with the 30s I figure the odds of getting damage from a pothole is reasonably high. The $.66/day was okay for me.

It was directly from the dealer. It is underwritten by a third party.

$1300 for 5 years includes road service, ding repair, replace lost keys. I looked at reducing my collision deductible on my car insurance and the tire and wheel insurance provided greater coverage at a lower fixed cost. I will be buying it when I pick up our new baby this week.

Porsche Dealer wanted $1500.00 and I got them down to $900.00. Told them I wasn't going to take it and they lowered it. My last car I spent thousands replacing tiires over 3 years. Well worth it. Good luck!

Frankly I don't expect to "win" as insurance companies (aka organized crime) are the original casino. The house always wins.

You're right. So if makes someone feel better to buy the tire insurance, I guess they will sleep better.

$2k covered my car for 3 yrs. (wheels & tires (replaced), windshield (repaired, but my auto insurance covers replacement) and door dings.
There are limitations as to how many times you can make a claim during the life of the policy,,, something you should ask

These policies make better and better sense as the miles on the odometer go up. As a 3rd car that will have less than 3k miles a year put on it, I dind't feel like I was anywhere close to maxing out the value of the insurance coverage I was paying for. Just my 2 cents.

So... 3 months and 2000 miles in and I have a tire with a nail in it. The tire is $595, shipping $32 mounting and balancing is going to be 1 hr shop rate at the dealership. That is about $725 total compared to the policy price of $850 for 5 years. I think I am pretty much ahead of the game. All I needed to do was call the dealership and it is taken care of for me. No ordering the tire, getting it shipped and then getting it installed. One call, 5 minutes.

I'm glad I made the purchase....

I just picked up my baby today and it was $1399 for tire/wheels and $1699 for tire/wheels/winshield/dings for 3 yrs. i tried to negotiate but they wouldn't budge. unfortunately this deal is not for replacement only. any cosmetic damages won't be covered such as curb rash on the wheels. and anythings that can be repaired will be repaired. i feel like i'm ripped off.

Never , ever, buy those policies. Do you know how many of these warranty companies go out of business each year? Ask your dealer what are the provisions if the "underwriter" is under water.

If you cannot afford basic maintenance of your car you are driving the wrong vehicle!

It isn't a question of being able to afford the "basic maintenance" of the car. It is a calculated risk of possible unforeseen events.

It is not different than having collision insurance. Seems expensive until you use it. The same could be said about medical insurance.

My dealer is standing behind the policy. If the underwriter goes out of business, they will cover the policy in-house. The Owner and GM a very good friends away from the store and the way the business is operated will not be a take you money and sucks to be you if the underwriter goes belly up.

Did you get yours from the dealer? If not where ? Price?
