time to put up or shut up
I have located a dealer with a new left over 2011 GTS which MSRP for $127k. I have the opportunity to perhaps swap my base 991 + maybe $10k or so for this GTS. Part of me is loathe to consider this because I love the white/blue colors and the exterior shape as well as new interior of the 991. I really do love that about the car. My problem is I like how the GTS drives. Shall I give up some money, a car that will look "new" for the next 7 years and whose interior and exterior I love in exchange for another car that looks "old", has a dated interior, is not the color I like but is much more powerful and has better driving dynamics in my opinion and would be the equivalent of a 25-30% discount off MSRP. My gut says stand pat and if I trade to wait for the colors/options I want but then again how many left over GTSs are there to be had much less one that is available at such a potentially good price. What to do

As much as I believe in what you are doing, I would recommend giving it a few more months and maybe try the new C4S or fingers crossed, the new GTS (a big maybe here) with the new electronic goodies.
You will probably be looking at the same loss then but the 997 GTS or 2012 991S can be had with better discounts as well.

Okay, I wasn't going to weigh in, but I think I will. I think you should wait for the new GTS / 3 (which probably won't be that long). You obviously have the money so you might as well get the best. After all you wouldn't want to take it out on the track and get beat.

I drove the c2S pdk at launch, traded in my 2010 GTS with only 22K miles for an allocation. I think the C2s is a champ of a car. I'm not sure what you consider to be different driving dynamics, but I think it drives as well or better. Will it drive better than the one coming? out in 2013? who knows. I personally am not built to wait.
I would suggest not getting in a hurry. If you have not done a driver school I would do this first. I found that some training greatly enhanced my feeling and enjoyment factor in any car at any speed. I have done a couple.
The 997 is a little livelier and less stable than the 991. The 991 actually drives better, however it seems more dead at the same speed. Find and country road with a some posted 30 mph turns and try them at 40 in the 997 and maybe go up to where you are comfortable. Then take the 991 on the same road and just move the speed up a little. I think you will find that the 991 will liven up once you start to push it a little.
If you just like the feel of the 997 going to the grocery store then the 991 would seem like a sedan in this situation.
I had a chance to push the 991 out on a country road and think is is one of the best cars I have driven. Much better than my friends 997.
