I'm trying to finalize my order and can't decide between the sun roof or moon roof. I know not many have gotten a car with the moon roof yet, but those who have or have seen one please chime in.

Is the entire cut out in the roof headliner covered with transparent glass or only a portion of it? I assume it would be the entire area.

Is the manual internal shade solid or perforated? 997 targa had a perforated shade. Anyone have pictures from the inside looking up?

I've decided on white exterior color and am not sure how I'd like the roof in black with the moon roof. Anyone have any pics of moon roof on a white 991?

Technically, this is a glass s/r as opposed to the moonroof on my 650 which tilts but does not open.

I took delivery of a 2013 DBM 991 with the glass s/r at the factory on 20 June and put 3k+ km on the car before returning it to the factory a few days ago.

The steel s/r panel is replaced by an identically sized glass panel, so yes, the entire cutout is glass. However, a narrow strip along the perimeter of the glass is blacked out.

The internal shade is not manual. Rather, it's a motorized one-touch unit. The shade is perforated in the sense that you can see a "shadow" of the sun through it, but it does not let any significant IR/heat through. I don't have any images looking up but I've posted many images here of the car from the outside, some with the s/r open.

IMO, the glass s/r has more of a dramatic visual effect on light colored cars. On my DBM, you can hardly tell it from a steel s/r. I saw a white 991 with the glass s/r on the street in STR. I thought it looked great.

Thanks all.yes I know there is a delay. My build date is oct 1st, so I'd guess it won't have much affect on mine.

I'm nervous ordering the option without ever having seen at least a picture of it on white or different lighter color car. I think the black roof on white looks great on something like a 458, but not sure about it on the 991.

If I find a picture I'll post it here as well.

 

Use the configure on 3D and this should give you a good idea.

When I first viewed it on a light car I thought I didn't like it, but have come to prefer it on a light color. My wife A8 has the black panoramic on white and it looks great.
