You really should look at that option also to see if you want a 911 or Boxster as they are different cars.

Not sure what you are speaking of as the Boxster is one of the best driving and handling cars in existence.
I compare the new 991 to the Boxster, not the other way around. Truth be told, if porsche put a bigger engine in it the 991 sales would drop.

I'm seeing used 2011-2012 911 GTS' now in the mid to high 80's. Wait till winter and I'll bet you can find one in your price range.

For track use, definitely the 2012 Carrera S (if your goal is the fastest time).
With an 80K budget, I would get a 2009 or 2010 Carrera S (or 4S if you live in the snow belt and will drive it in the snow). If you buy it from a dealer, you can get it with 3 years left on the 6 year pre-owned warranty.
