Exterior package painted

I was wondering if anyone has an opinion about the Exterior package painted option. I have several other cars with black trim pieces (BMW) and after several years non of the black pieces is black-black.. they all started fading.. is this same for the standard black pieces on the 911? (rear apron, lower part of the mirror)... i'm just wondering if it's worth getting this painted..

Have you tried to use any products on the black trim to bring them back? Try out "Black Wow"... it does a great job.

I like Meguiars Rubber and Vinyl Cleaner/ Conditioner. It brings the color back nicely and isn't greasy. Most importantly it has UV protection.

I use the same paint cleaner as I use on the car finish. It removes wax and other stuff. I am not real keen on black paint type products. ...i'm going to try the Meguiars dhill911 just recommended.

I like the painted exterior package especially on a vibrant color like Racing Yellow but I also try to think practically and tell people that the front spoilers are somewhat of a consumable item and when it comes time to replace them it's going to be touch to match the front spoilers in years 2 3 and 4 of ownership.

This might however be a mute point though on the 991 because the spoiler is now tapered with the car so it's much less prone to scraping coming in and out of driveways.

As far as bringing the black back to those parts, there are a number of products that help with that and the thing I usually tell people is to avoid getting any kind of wax on there.

I've placed an order for 991 4S in GT Silver with exterior pkg painted. I think it looks good for light colors as dark colors kind of go with black parts...plus it will be unique as majority of cars don't have that ...

Depends on what you are looking for. For a classy type color such as silver, grey, browns, etc. the exterior package painted is something to look at.

For other colors such as red, white and yellow, I actually like the black contrast on these parts, makes the car look a little less "classy" and a little "meaner" if that makes sense.

Although I think the painted exterior package looks nice, I prefer black, especially on the front. Much cheaper, and easier to replace if you end up damaging. I also like the contrast on my GT Silver car. Plus, low painted parts tend to take a beating (rock chips), although paint protection film would help.

+1, I like the contrast, color keyed plastics is getting old.
