Panamera facelift and "stationwagon" unveiled!
Well I'm eating my words...
When I heard Porsche was coming out with a STATION-WAGON Pana I was not impressed, a station wagon... really!!!?
What's next a mini van and pick-up truck!!!
But I have to say this "station wagon (or "estate... or "shooting break") is looking pretty damn good!
Personally I don't think it looks much like a "station-wagon" (which is a good thing!) but I reserve a final verdict till I see it in the flesh.
Of course who knows when that will be since it's a "concept car", that said I'm pretty sure we'll see many of the styling cues in the new face-lift of the Panamera as well as the Cayenne (and Macan).
It'll be released at the Paris Auto show tomorrow... where it will over power the unveiling of the 991 C4S I'm sure!
ohhhhfff a sports car being "upstaged" by a station-wagon... welcome to the VW age.
.

Yeah I'm not feeling the rear at all nor those taillights, they just look way too small (and not in a minimalist kind off way...)...
It's not as bad as it could have been since it's more "4-door hatch" than station-wagon, but still (as unpopular as it is...) I liked the original rear-end better.
The front however... AWESOME!!
Yup they nailed it with those headlights and that grill with the incorporated DRL, very sexy!

Looks like someone sat on a Cayenne! Sid - don't tell me after all of these months of waiting for a 4S you are going to trade it all in on a...stationwagon?!

Ohhh no!! you're right it does look like a flat Cayenne...
Now I won't be able to get that out of my head!
How are you, it's been a while, guess you've been enjoying your new 991 (unlike others who've just been waiting... and waiting... and...).
In other words YES I'm still waiting for my C4S but at least I've got a build date!
As to station-wagon... if someone would have told me that Porsche would producing one I would have started laughing, guess the joke's on us!
I do really like the front styling but this station-wagon thing is kinda unsettling... I hope VW doesn't screw-up the P. brand and treats in the same manner as they did with Lamborghini... although it's looking more and more like Audi and VW to me... not good!

Glad to hear you have a build date for your new Beetle Sport 4S!

I had the car out this weekend on a drive from New Jersey to New Hampshire. Wow highway 93 in NH north of Concord and highway 91 in Vermont are beautiful and empty. Got up to 110 for a stretch - and did not see another soul. Wind buffeting still a problem with windows open, but closed it is a hot knife through butter on nice clear roads. Steady as a rock and lot of grip. It was clearly not even breaking a sweat. You are going to love it!
Hope you are doing well.
I very much like what I see. The front looks much better and the back is a huge improvement over the humpbacked tail of the sedan. Plus it's much more practical. For the first time I feel like I might like to buy a Panamera.
I've come to appreciate -- and like the looks of -- many of the European "station wagons" from having rented a number of Audi "Avant" and BMW station wagons on European travel. A regular sedan would never have swallowed all my wife's luggage.
Our V10 M5 doesn't have enough luggage carrying capacity to take another couple on a one to two week trip. But it looks like the Pana station wagon would work nicely.
Parting with the M5 would be difficult since I hugely enjoy the engine. It's so involving to drive (not much brute torque, but lots of high-rev hp), loves to rev and is so entertaining to operate. Most enjoyable sedan engine I've ever driven. Alas, the global warming hysteria is killing off engineering masterpieces like this.

C4S beetle!? dude you're killing me!!
When I was into Ferrari my friends would call them "Fiats" and the kicker was... they had Ferrari's too!
I've got a lot to learn about the self-deprecating sense of humor or "humility"... my ego seems to keeps getting in the way!
That said, soon the worlds automotive industry will be owned by Fiat, VW and a few giants in the US and China... guess it could be worse, at least we're not driving a "Tata" hehehe.
Sounds like you're having fun in your... VW!
Had a busy summer but now we're on hiatus so I'm spending a lot more time on 6 hehehe, can't ya tell.
I think all the 991 owners are pretty lucky, yup life is good my friend!

. Sid, back the thread's message, I agree that the front is a home run. The back is not good. Like the current Mustangs. Front is great. But the back.
