My new toy and why its not porsche

So here it goes.... My last Porsche was a 2011 997.2 Turbo. Awesome car and probably should have never sold it. When the 991 came out I built a C4s but struggled with the thought of downgrading from a Turbo (even though it was a 991 and not a 997). I just don't get why they make you wait so long for a Turbo to come out but in the end I just wasn't willing to wait. I love Porsche and I am sure I will own another in the future. At the same time I must say this Maserati GT MC far exceeded my expectations. For a 150k car this has a ton of carbon fiber in and out, leather everywhere, stitching that was a $450 option ($2000 in a Porsche), and the sound of that motor is just amazing.

Sorry for the sideways photos I cant seem to fix it.

Jeff

Nice black beauty! Congrats. Please post interior pics too!

Btw, I'm so hurt with turbo lag that I stopped considering turbo and went for 991 4S...

Nice car but outside of the sound, driving one was quite behind when it came to performance. Does it not feel way slower and less nimble then your turbo?

Great car, and a lot of fun to drive. The only thing that's a letdown for me is the transmission and lack of speed when compared to other cars in that price range.

Regardless, the Maser is one hell of a looker and driver.

Performance is very different. Car feels extremely tight and very capable. Much more room inside, far more impressive interior. More of a touring sports car. I am not a track guy nor do I push any car to there limits so I really couldn't get into the hardcore differences. Truly, I am amazed at how both cars have there own blood lines and have a great appreciation for both. Did I mention the sound??

awesome cars. my bud just got one. awesome sounding GT.

Man up though, yous sold your turbo bc you wanted something different. thats cool.

However, the cars are nt even in the same league of perfromance. the turbo is in its own class, while 991 eclipses the Gt by a giod margin.

However, the Gt looks and sounds amazing. too bad theirs no high performance version (the S and scud models dont cut it ImO)

As my son told me when I mentioned the Maserati as a possibility, "Dad, you're too young for that car." Needless to say, it quickly fell off the list.

A beautiful & classy car indeed! With far fewer production numbers, exclusivity remains guaranteed as years go by. Congrats!

Again, they are two totally different cars. The point that I was making from the beginning was not which one performs better, or is a better car. It's more the fact that I was not pleased with having to wait so long for the Turbo 991 from the initial launch of the C2S.
If it was a daily driver I would be driving the 911 without hesitation. My daily driver is a RR HSE Super charged (my 4th one) and when the new model comes out I go right into the Supercharged and not have to wait a year or more while the upgraded version only comes in the base model.

The Maserati is an awesome car. I drove my friend's S and I loved it. Agreed on the sound.

If I may, only thing that bugged me is that they use all these different parts from Fiat and Lancia i.e. the backlit of the speedometer is different vs. radio vs. clock vs. other buttons. But then again, same thing in the Ferrari.

You're right, a more wholesome package for your money. Looking at the prices for some ridic Porsche options such as headlight cleaning system painted for 300 bucks, I mean...

Also love the Quattro Porte. Pinifarina just makes some awesome designs.

I hope you can handle the attention that car is getting. Enjoy

Beautiful car congratulations! I bet it sounds great!! The reason they make people wait is to get the most out of each iteration of the product line. New buyers will reach a little deeper for the newest fastest model as the existing models are somewhat, yesterday's news. It seems to work. If they were all available on day one, there might be more griping about the cost vs. performance difference.

It will be interesting to see if the durability and reliability of the Porsche is there with the Maserati. I hope it is because it is a beautiful car!!

Very nice. I came oh so close to trading my GTS in for a MC...but the numbers were just not enough to my liking.

Yes the Maser is bigger.
Yes it's slower.

But OH MY GOD does it sounds better!!!! And it has a backseat that I could actually fit my daughter in with some comfort.

So, from my perspective...I can't say anything but congrats. You'll love driving it everywhere.
