Porsche 911 50th anniversary edition in the works - report

Promises to be something special

The Porsche 911 will celebrate its 50th anniversary at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and a new report is indicating the company is preparing to mark the watershed moment by unveiling a special edition.

In an interview with Motoring, Porsche 911 product line director August Achleitner revealed "there is something prepared, something special" for the car's golden anniversary. He declined to say what the company has in store but it's likely a special edition with unique badging and, possibly, retro styling cues.
Besides the special edition, Achleitner promised a variety of new 911 variants. As he noted, “When the market development drops and the sales drop or we come to the end of the lifecycle then it makes sense to bring other varieties."

Might be but I doubt that the Targa variant would be a "Special edition" ... will see. But that car is going to be amazing. Imagine all black! OMG!!

I don't think it is a surprise to anyone that Porsche would jump to make another Special Edition or variant of the 911.

Also, don't all 911's have retro styling cues? Someone from 1963 could be brought to 2012 and if they saw a 911 they would know it was a 911.
