Dealer messed up my order. Help appreciated...

Good morning everyone...

I just joined the Forum a few days ago, after reading the posts for a while. I was supposed to have "production date" today, but I spoke to my dealer yesterday and it was postponed a month. So, I canceled my order and found a couple of In Stock 991Ss.

The only concern is that since these cars are at the dealer, they have roughly 200 miles of 'test drives' and 'refueling mileage'.

What do you guys think? I am a bit concerned about how those 200 miles were driven (most likely incredibly fast...).

One of the cars I have found is exactly how I built mine, or actually even more.

The dealer is willing to give me $10,000 off and to switch the wheels to Carrera Classic wheels....

This is the package:

Ale, welcome.

That's a shame about the order screwup. Hopefully something good comes out of it.

I would determine my "off the lot" purchase by the following:

- have you dealt with the dealer before and trust them?
- is the car in PERFECT condition?
- is the spec what I am happy with?
- is the deal exactly what you would consider to be fair?

If the answer to all the questions is positive or yes, then I would buy it. These cars can handle the "normal" test drives that they are put through but 200 miles would be a no no for me. Just a personal thing.

I hope you find your steed soon. Good luck.

Uh, I know I flogged the 991S I test drove. That being said, these cars are well built and with PDK, not possible to have a mis-shift, and that's the only real thing I would worry about in 200 or 2000 miles. S agree Witt he post above, if all else is good, I wouldn't worry OR if you are spooked, find another dealer or order another car and be patient. I am on month 7 of my PTS car, but it's worth the wait to get exactly what I want IMO.

dlbonder is infamous around these parts
I understood that onboard computer acts a a flight recorder that shows cars driving history ? Get them to show you this. Agree, likely not per the break-in recommendations, but at least it won't be a mystery.

Ale,

I wouldn't worry about the 200 miles on a PDK.
I doubt that there would have been anything extreme done, if anything at all.

It is a 2012?

If it's a 2012, I'd be aiming for a discount closer to the 10% mark.
You can ask for an additional 2 yrs of warranty for peace of mind.
So Extending the warranty + wheels + $$ discount should add up to approx +10%.

With the saved $$ you could even add PSE down the road

Thank you everybody!!!

The dealer just sent me an email that my refund has been processed and I will receive a check in days....so I will go for it.

I am flying to Germany today, but the dealer wants me to take delivery of the 200 miles 991 within the end of the month, so the Saturday after Thanksgiving most likely I will pick it up!

Good idea for the extended warranty and for the computer check. Can they do that for sure? Is it something I would understand when they show me the results?

This 991 is exactly what I wanted, with on top a bunch of options that I didn't put on my order, but obviously I can live with them. And yes, it's a 2012. Any difference? Honestly, 2012 has been a wonderful year, and I am almost happier that the car will be a 2012, to close they year in tune with the rest.

Everybody on this Forum is phenomenal!

Do you ever organize get-together events guys?

Im glad its worked out for you mate!
Have a great trip, eat lots of bratwurst, and be well!

We really should organise 6speed get-togethers as there probably aren't too many of them.

There is no material difference between 2012 and 2013 models.
I think with 2013's you have the option of adaptive cruise control, Glass Sunroof and the auto rev matching feature (to be available later in 2013).

I would pay the dealer a surprise visit and have them download the data prior to any significant monetary commitment. I believe the data is self explanatory.

Good luck and safe travels.

PS. We accept Paypal, Visa and AMEX for this advice.

Unfortunately, I can't pay them a surprise visit, since I'll be flying later on today, and they're some 35 miles away from me. Unless some kind New Jersey Forumist feels like doing that....

So, it has happened already here on the Forum that somebody installed the PSE in aftermarket, I believe...

I think that is the only option I'd be missing....

Thank you again....Looking forward to buy a glass of wine to all the people that helped me out in this difficult decision!

You know that a factory driver takes the car out of the Werks door on a 10-15 mile test drive before the car goes off to shipping, right? Do you think they don't run it up to redline, just to make sure the motor doesn't fly apart?

Even if abused, 200 miles is nothing. Any problems (highly unlikely) will show up in the first 5,000 miles or first year.

Go for it.

I didn't know, but I feel so much better now, knowing that!

I think I'll seal the deal today, and maybe schedule the PSE install before delivery.

Thank you again to everybody!
