Coming Soon!

Hi everybody,

Pulled the trigger!!

31 year old, very successful marketing consultant, still it was a big decision, and a very expensive one. I could afford it, but it'd definitely be on the expense of some other things in my life, at least for a while... But hey, if this is a mistake, it'd be the most sweet mistake I've even done

I used to have a Cayman S 2009, I owned it 2nd hand during the period from Jul 2010, until last month, when I sold it at a minor loss who some believe to actually be a gain.. Still, I wasn't as happy as I should be, as I only sold it to get rid of it before the new shape comes out. I loved the car, way too much to do it, but I did.

I couldn't convince myself to buy any other car but a Porsche... yet, this time it can't be another Cayman... My son is now 4 years old, and he since my job requires lots of traveling, I'd most likely need to take him & the wife out during weekend, hence the need for the extra seats!

I've driven the Carrera S 991 for a test drive. To be honest, Cayman S is MUCH MORE FUN to drive, but still, the spirit is there...

Couldn't afford the S with the options I want as a must, so I ordered a Carrera, with the following options:

- Chrono-package (had it in the Cayman, loved it, and it comes with extra features in the 991 which could help compensate the less power vs. the S).
- Sport exhaust (I've always hated the low noise Porsche cars make, this fixes that for sure, a must in my opinion).
- PDK
- Glass sunroof
- 20 inch Carrera S wheels Painted in platinum (a must)
- Some other luxurious/ comfort/ cool features

Color I've chosen is Basalt Black... 90% of that decision is driven by the following:
- I HAVE TO have the interior Carrera red. Had it in the Cayman, LOVED IT, STILL LOVE IT, can't imagine riding any other interior color!
- Like white, but my Cayman was white.... it'd feel really boring to have the same exterior + interior color combinations again in my new car, wouldn't it?!

Now, what other exterior colors work with red interior? mmmmmmmmmmm
I still have a week or two to catch & change if you guys have any recos

Appreciated, and pleased to join

Im from jeddah 2 .. believe me the weather is not the worst part .. its the damn roads here .. Ileo will know what im talking about .. .. im actually thinking of moving to Dubai cos the Roads are so bad in Jeddah

Ileo .. with red interior it has to be black or Dark blue.. but ill advise against buying a dark car in Jeddah .. impossible 2 keep clean .. and with all the dust we have here ull have swirls all over ur paint within 6 months ...

Aqua Blue could be alternative and goes nicely with red

I changed my configuration based on the dealer's false info

Thank you for the clarification

Hey, thanks for the replies everyone!

Yousef,
Tell me about the weather! It looks so cool though, I guess, worst case scenario i'd give it some tint or protective film, or even wear some sunblock

saint.666
Oh, so true! I thought about getting the 19" wheels, but then I thought, heck, 1" won't make that big of a difference, would it? I'm lucky enough to be living west Malek road, and usually only drive through Malek & Tahleiah (which would still break your car one day, but at least it won't be the next day after collection!).

By the way, have you seen the 991 Aqua blue with red interior in Jeddah? I saw it, really loved the color, thinking of changing my order!!!!!!

lool @ sunblock

Well ur lucky thats i nice stretch of road and ull enjoy ur drive to work in ur 991 .. just watch out for the speed cams .

By the way i went with glass roof on C4S order .. to be honest i did not think about the heat .. so get me some of that sunblock while ur at it ..

I've seen the aqua blue ..its beautiful .. but not with red interior .. but if u seen the combo in real life and u like it then go for it

As for black its nightmare to manage ..especially that the humidity in Jeddah attracts dust continuously ..and therefore its impossible to keep the car clean and if u get ur cash washed daily then ull get swirls on the paint in no time.. so black is a no no for me

Hows the Porsche service in SAMACO ? . i had several audis .. it was so and so

That's what everybody is telling me about black, but I was also told that Basalt Black is much more practical than non-metalic black.

Haven't had a good night sleep last night, thinking about switching to Aqua Blue!!!!

SAMACO sucks, in all, Audi, VW, and Porsche. No difference. It just feels more painful at Porsche due to the amounts you pay for the same sh*ty service!

Abu Dhabi is an Island so humidity is very high, I totally agree with saint.666 regarding dark colors

Mmm .. not sure .. maybe some owners of Basalt Black can confirm what uve been told .. but then again they dont live in our climate

U have to consider that we dont have decent car wash in town and the water is very contaminated ... therefore if its black ull get swirls...its not bad at night ..but during the day and under the glaring sun the paint will look dated in less than a year..

Aqua blue is beautiful colour .. maybe it will slightly clash with bright red interior..but as i said before ..if u saw that combo and u like it .. then go for it and dont risk the hassle of a black car

if u really really want a darkish colour ..dark blue is perfect for ur red interior.. sorry dont wanna confuse u more .. but thats just my opinion

As for SAMACO dont get me started.. had some nightmares with them when i had my Audis .... i guess u can say the same thing about all the German car dealers in Saudi .. but thats what u gonna get with an exclusive dealerships for the whole country
