Something wrong with this pic? (SD Package)
Something wrong with this pic? (SD Package)
Hi guys, I am trying to figure this out: With the SportDesign kit, the Ducktail is supposed to stay in a fixed position, but from the attached pics (same car), it still has the center console button that raises/lowers the regular spoiler.
, Also not clear in the Porsche configurator.
Is this correct? I am about to finalize my order but dont want more blank buttons in my center console if I order the SD package.
Anyone knows? Thanks

Glad to see some else hates blank buttons as much as I do. But when they premier cars, not everything is functional. They may have took a regular 911 and added the SD package after it was already built with the movable spoiler.
On a side note, I want to get a custom stencil styled sticker that says '911' or '991' or 'S' or even the NOS logo for those trying to be witty
in a very tiny size to fit on those blank buttons, but am having trouble with the right Porsche font.. If I actually get it one I'd be happy to send out extras to those who want it.

Don't tell me you're about to change you're 991 for a 3rd time in 12 months!
You are, aren't ya hahahaha man you rock!
Let me guess... a C4S.
BTW I'm having another switch put in stock 991 switch which has a symbol for raising the front (ala Ferrari 430) so at least doth sides are balanced.
Still like to know what the 2 empty ones left are suppose to be for though...

that is correct Sid, Carrera 4S it is.Dealer gave me an allocation slot for a 02/2013 C4S build, they took my Base as trade in, just a US$5,000 loss after three months of ownership, fantastic deal IMO! They had this guy willing to pay full price for a barely used 991, none in stock here.
After the fabulous experience of owning two Base 991 cars, I can justify to go one step further, hope its worth the extra $$$
Now the long wait begins, ....again.

I knew someone who did change car for the exact same model (and color) twice within a year, but you beat it by going 3 times

In curiosity, why not just use the base and wait for the Turbos? I mean either go lowest or go highest, something in the middle will still induce buyer remorse

Post up your build on the C4S thread, it'll be great to have one more 6speeder there with a C4s on order.
Congrats... you crazy man!
Ok I've gotten 2 pm's about what button I'm talking about adding.
So I thought I'd post up.
I was going to add a button to control a secondary valve system I designed for the exhaust, kinda like the PSE just MUCH louder!
The designation of this button would be WTF... after the first words uttered from passengers upon activation hehehe, infantile I know...
However from experience I've learned it's almost impossible to just "add" text to an empty button and have it look the same as the stock finish... so you have to redo all the buttons in order for it to be uniform
.... not gonna happen!
Soooo I was just going to repeat 1 of the existing button (probably the PSE one but add a red dot) on the right side column so both sides would have an equal amount of buttons...
However since I have not been able to find anyone/company reliable whom I'm confident can fabricate this exhaust system to my standards I though I'd just add a "dummy" switch in the interim...
Available individually at your local Porsche dealer or... as a kit like the pics below from an Ebay add, which will actually fill ALL the empty spaces.
Problem solved!
EDIT... just spoke to my part guy at the dealer and switches are NOT order-able separately.
The only thing available is a "repair kit" which comes with console and all switches imaginable (same kit as below) for cab or coupe.
Cost $240,-

I'll post my build in your 4S thread in a couple of days.
Thanks guys for your comments.
Galion - I have noticed many posts from folks that have the SD package and no mention of a rear spoiler button. Sounds like this one is a retrofit. I know that doesn't really help and I agree buttons give me the feel of completeness.
Currently going through the pains of trying to put together a build before I go to my dealer. I want to make sure to have done my homework and I have to say the Aerokit is my favorite.
Good luck with your build but I guess you know what you are doing now its your third go in a year, no less...

Thanks for the info. Until I see my car in person, my guess is those type are screen printed. All we can do is get a decal made for rub down. I will give that try down the and see how it turn out. I don't mind the blank as much as the chrome piece, if I can replace the black plastic with the chrome piece, I think that will makes it look a little more uniform. $240 is for the everything you show us in the box? Is that fairly easy DIY project?
So those little chrome suckers will basically cost ya 240 bucks... not that this price point is going to be an issue for anyone buying a brand new 991 but still it's the principle.

BTW you're right the buttons are indeed screen printed.
That said I do find any type of alternative rub-down transfer just doesn't look the same as the stock ones (even if you put a fine coat of satin clear over it...).
But I'd love to be proven wrong!

edit... oohps just noticed the Q. re; DIY, I imagen it can't be to difficult but rather than taking a chance at scratching/breaking anything I'm going to have mine done at the dealer and just pay attention at how so I can do it myself after.
