I have the PSE on my 2013 CS.... It could be a little better. The sound just does not work for me.... E46 M3 had a better sound not to mention Ferrari's.... Porsche just have not figured out the sound... Maybe it is the engine?

I think you can get different sounds from the exhaust depending on the system purchased. Aftermarket already has quite a few choices from mild to wild. My fear is that the coolest exhaust sound for 10 minutes could be too much over the long haul.

I decided to drive home tonight with it on in my 991S - I was coming up my home street when I shot it up to only 3500 rpm and 4 kids turned around on the sidewalk to see what was coming.

i had an M version E46 - what sound could you possibly be referring to here. those BMW's seem to only know the "sounds of silence". there is nothing there: a base 996 blew the E46 sound out of the water - i had both so maybe just my opinion but a lot of friends who heard both sure said the same thing.

Ferrari is not a good comparison because it cost 2, 3 times or more depending on which model you are talking about. So one would expect a lot more including engine note among other things. I think they did a great job on this compare to the 997.

My M3 was a convertable. Maybe that made a difference. It did have a better sound than my 991 SC with PSE IMHO.

I had an e46 M3 and didn't care for the sound of oem exhaust at all. Had an aftermarket exhaust that made it sound pretty good though, but at the cost of some drone (which I hated).

That's the great thing about the PSE. Loud when you want it quiet when you want it.

i've heard mixed thoughts on this....

i have a non-S 991. i am thinking that i will be adding PSE in the near future. will it sound equivalent to a 991 S or will it be more tame due to the differences in engines?

thanks in advance.

As I understand it the non S with PSE will have the same exhaust system as the S wirh PSE. My guess is that it would be hard to tell the difference. You could see if your dealer has a non S PSE and check it out.

I love the PSE in my 2013S. And it's true, louder can grow old pretty quickly. I'd installed the Acrapovich titanium exhaust on my ZO6 and the drone (even when the butterflys were closed) between 1500 to 2000 RPMS could get quite annoying.

Now if it's possible to go louder with no drone whatsoever, then that might be fun for certain people.

Pete, not to sound like a total A-hole but generally speaking you'll rarely ever have drone in rear engine mounted car because the pipes don't run across the length of the chassis or under your *** at all.
