Waiting anxiously for my 2013 S coupe
I also got confirmation that my car is in production now and is scheduled to be completed next week. Waiting is so hard..... On that note I have seen some of you post that you get updates on your car as it goes thru different stages of development. My sales guy says he can't do that. Doesn't make a huge difference but it would be fun to get a new email each day with a status update!

All mine says he can see is production and then post production. No additional details. Not sure if that's true or if he is just lazy. I remember reading here that some folks knew when their car was in paint or leather or final inspection, etc.
Ha ha, I won't dare post another picture of my car, but if you had the Aero package, we'd be twins. And you're in for a real treat; these cars are nothing short of amazing.
Just wait until the first time that entity sneaks into the car and rev-matches a gear for you, just as you were planning to do so yourself. LOL

I am well aware of how they drive as last year I rented a 991Cab for a week in May and a 991S Coupe in September over in Germany. Got the Cab (top down) to 264k (approx 164 mph) and the coupe to 295 k (approx 183 mph). Put about 3500k on the two rentals. It was on the SEptember trip, on the first rental day my wife turned to me (at about 125mph) and said "you should get one of these!". Came home and ordered the next day. I've been waiting since October 1 as there is significant allocation issues with getting Porsches into Canada.

my vote is lazy, as mine just went into production and my dealer let me know that he can alert me each step of the way--pre assembly checkpoint, paint, leathershop, quality checks, when vin is assigned, etc. all this came unsolicited to me. i'd nag your dealer a bit if you're interested in this info.

Ignore him... anyone who doesn't see it's bad manners to leave such a post in a thread where someone is expressing his excitement for a new 991 is rude, ignorant, arrogant and just here to troll.
But I agree it's the kind of thing an (insecure) child would say.

Not sure how a car can be in the "leather shop" as the leather shop is in another building and the cars never go there. The leather shop produces all the pieces and they are sent to the assembly line where they are installed. All done on a "just in time" basis. This is based on 3 Factory tours in 2012.

you are correct, car is not literally in leather shop, but those with more custom upholstering, completion of these items is tracked. in fact fwiw exclusive asked dealer for the comm# so they could "keep record" of this build aspect. made it sound like a doublecheck process.
