Corvette C7 ... revealed in less than 54 minutes
[quote=Cpa4S;3741622]Of course!!! Since 1963!!!
I respectfully disagree that the Corvette is the main competitor to the 911. I happen to love Corvettes but I do not place them in the same category as a 911. The 911 is in a different class, specifically a higher one. One that is more sophisticated. Hard to describe. If I could, I would have a Corvette in addition to a 911. However, the 911 comes first in my book.
What I mean is that since the beginning, the corvette is the American sports icon and Porche is the European sports icon. Many, many head to head.
Funny thing, I have just changed my ZR1 for a 991 4S.

Sorry, guess I am biased because this is a 991 forum but it looks like you made the right choice for a 991 also. I have owned previous Corvettes and they are totally different cars to me. I always wished I could have the 911 while driving the Corvette and now I can. Good luck with your 4S.

Presentation was short on facts. It was impressive that it was 100 pounds lighter (and the C6 was already as light as a 911) and 57% stiffer- (and it was already stiffer than the 997). Seems like it will still have the problems I already mentioned, but glad to see it made it through the financial crisis.

Buyers will be able to choose from either a six-speed paddle-shifted automatic transmission or a seven speed manual. To help the driver shift gears, the Corvette offers "Active Rev Matching," which helps manage engine speeds for perfect shifts. It can be turned on or off using steering wheel paddles.
I have to say - I like it very, very much.
I haven't owned an American car since the late 90's and, frankly, there hasn't even been a single car that tempted me - until now.
The fact that it's practically half the price of a CS is pretty amazing. Hell, you could get a C7 and a Cayenne for the price of a C4S.

The car's new aluminum structure is 99 pounds lighter than the steel frame underlying today's Corvette while it's also 57% stiffer. The body is made from composite materials, including carbon fiber in the hood and roof panels.
In less than 54 minutes, the main competitor of the 911 ... the Corvette C7 will be revealed.
