So close, yet so far...

Got the call from the dealer the past Monday. My car was landed at RI port, but the dealer said it would take at least a week for the car to get up to NJ... This last leg of waiting is killing me, I just want to take a bus down there and pick up the car myself, it's only 3 hours away!!!

Why does it take over a week to travel a couple of hundreds of miles... to clear the customs?

You guessed it... It has to remain in port for a certain period of time to clear customs. I sympathize as my build is in March. Nearly there...

Been in your shoes...I was actually out of the country on business when my car arrived. Talk about torture. The next couple of days will fly by and you will soon have your car.

It might be a frustrating ride home as the car is limited to like 20-25 MPH until the dealer goes through their process and sets it up for GOOOOOOOOO!!!.

Mine was on the same ship (Seven Seas Highway). I now blame you for adding to the customs & loading workload and making mine take longer!

In terms of tracking, as far as I understand it was unloaded Monday evening and I got a call yesterday around 2pm that it had the floor mats and window sticker and was just waiting for loading, which it sounded like would be today.

Hopefully that means they show up tomorrow? (I'm in the DC area- so a few hours down the road (or did you mean NH since you said 'up to'?) - but I'm keeping my fingers crossed in any case...)

I think you'll have it sooner than a week. Sounds like the dealer is underpromising so they can over deliver. Sold cars have priority and are 1st to go through customs and released to carriers for dealership delivery.

My car was a dealer trade when I got it and only 30 minutes from my house but I had to wait 2 days for them to get the car, I know how you feel. But I can tell you that it is totally worth the wait! Love my new 991 in every way and have enjoyed it more then my other 911's by a large margin so far, even if I have only had it a week or so.

Considering that WA 007 just took delivery down in Pompano Beach - which I think would have been the same ship ours came on - it's even more painful now! Keeping my fingers crossed for a call today.

(I'm trying not to call and pester, though it's awfully tempting...)

Mine was a custom order 3 months ago and was originally estimated for early January, so these last days are just killing me.

Enjoy yours and remember those of us that are less fortunate as you drive around!

I got an email just a couple of hours ago that my car just came off the truck. It has to go through the dealer inspection and prep, and should be ready to pick up late morning / early afternoon tomorrow (Saturday).

Being a patient man, I did swing by and check it out (dealer is about 10 minutes away) for just a sec. - partly covered in the white wrap, half in sun / half in shade, so no decent pic, but the 991 in Guards Red is just beautiful. And then the service guys drove off with it. Sooo close!

Hopefully "most likely" means you get a similar call today!
