Rear Badging Removal

Has anyone tried to remove the rear badging?

I would like to remove the "Carerra" and just keep the "911S".

I guess I would have to get new letters for the 911S as the adhesive would probably not work upon reapplication.

I have never tried it, but assume you would need a heat gun to do it.

Fishing line. it will separate the car from the adhesive on the lettering.

It's very easy - just warm the letters using a heat gun or hair dryer then slice the letters off using fishing line or dental floss. Clean the sticky residue off with Goo Gone or a similar product and you're done!

Check out the 997 forum -- this topic has been covered extensively there. In summary, heat gun/hair dryer, then dental floss, then re-application with 3M emblem adhesive.

Be very cautious with the heat gun - it can damage the paint.

Agreed and this is why I think a hairdryer is safer.

Even with a hair dryer, you want to be careful. The clear coat can be damaged when the temperature reaches around 150F, causing a dull spot.

Dealer will do it. I took it all off except the Porsche word. Still might remove that as well. Looks better. Cleaner. Minimalism is good. A hair drier and not dental floss work, too.

150? Isn't the paint hotter in Summer Heat in Arizona directly on the metal?
